I don't see how a pho market can survive down there.
A trip up to Argyle is always the way to go.
I could see one scenario of a pho market in the touristy areas, but only as a small storefront takeout-only joint that appeals to the lunch market and provides for a quick, affordable weekend dinner for pre-partying drunkards and service folks on the way to/from work.

Well, I think they killed it on the opening night. It certainly feels like a Logan Square place, it's loud, kinda hipstery, but bringing some real good ****. It is cash only, but the prices are geared towards the area. The drinks are $10 per (which is higher than L&E and Scofflaw, but the same as Billy Sunday) and are excellent. I didn't get any food there as I had just eaten a king's ransom at piccolo sogno (highly recommended btw). But, I was very impressed by the drinks and it didn't feel like an opening night, that's how smoothly it felt.
So, my recommendation is that it's well worth going to. I'm not sure it's a destination spot yet, but I will certainly find myself there a decent amount.
Thanks for the rec. Putting this on my Christmas week to-do.
Went to Violet Hour on Friday night before dinner at Trenchermen (which again refuses to disappoint). I think I'm over it. Not quitting on it, though, as there was no line at 7:00; just not really going out of my way to plan a night that involves it.

Hoping to be open by the summer, but I want to get this right from te beginning. So, it may take longer than that.
