Any off-beat Valentine's Day suggestions? Was looking for something beyond a simple dinner. Would preferably like something with Live Music.

Also, tried Province for Restaurant Week, wasn't that impressed, anyone else share similar thoughts on it?

The Smoke Daddy hardly has a romantic ambiance but it has good food and live music.

Live right by province. Went once on a random night and had a great experience. Went on NYE and it was just ok, service, not surprisingly, a bit lacking.

Just moved to Wicker Park/Bucktown. Right next to Piece Pizza and kiddy corner from Lillies Q. This is heaven.

You are really close to The Southern (somewhat Lillie's Q-esque in case you're not from Chicago) too. You should head over there tonight for their Fat Tuesday low country boil!!! I would totally be there if I didn't have night class. I think it's $19 all-you-can-eat and $3 drink specials.

Trying to convince a few friends to come along to the Beer Fest. Does the event sell out or do you think I can wait a couple more weeks before grabbing a few tickets?

It will definitely sell out. I don't know how quickly though. I would grab some now if possible. You can always sell them on Craigslist. Last fall there were several people out front of Union Station looking to buy tickets so they could go with their friends.

Kuma's is the GOAT. I avoid LP, for the most part. Mostly love this one opening because it could lessen the crowd at the Belmont location.

If you haven't gone to rickshaw republic yet, it's well worth a visit.

A friend and I hit it up while barhopping on sunday and they do indonesian street food. It's on lincoln, just south of fullerton. I will give the warning that the portions are pretty damn big, so be prepared for that. Most of all though, fried rice, and lots of it. I'm gonna have to do takeout when I'm at my 2nd job every now and then

Yelp Drinks starts tomorrow. At various imbibing establishments they have 50% off certain drinks:

Ate at Revolucion (Mexican) Steak House tonight with the girlfriend and her parents. Seems like they have an okay beer list but we got margaritas and they were on the disappointing side (mine was big but couldn't taste the booze, gf's had two enormous blocks of ice in it as cubes). The guacamole and chips were RIDICULOUS, a must order every time. We split the 12 oz. French Cut pork chop with pineapple salsa, chipotle mashed potatoes and caramelized plantains. Pork chop was decent, the potatoes were good, and the plantains were great. We also split a New York Strip topped with crab and asparagus (a special add-on) and fries. The steak was okay (the topping on it was amazing though) and the fries were also okay -- seasoned well but somewhat limp/soggy (soggy might be too strong of a word). We split a couple desserts and they were good but nothing you haven't already eaten at a dozen other restaurants around the city. Nice selection though.

Would definitely go back for the chips and guacamole alone. Would also order a full meal again but would stick to the Mexican specialties portion of the menu rather than the steaks.

All of the Red Line issues lately (and planned closings soon) are really making public transport a bitch in the city...

Had some pies from www.royalpies.com
The chicken balti was very very good. I would definitely recommend buying their pies or eating at their restaurant if you're in the area.

Went to Little Goat last night, sister restaurant of G&TG. It's a fancy diner. Had goat chili which was the best chilli I've ever had (n.b my chili eating experiences are limited) and some some goat chili cheese fries which were very good. My friends really liked it too.

They just pointed us to the elevator and we were off to the 96th floor. We chose the bar area I guess they call it. The food wasn't overpriced IMO (wraps, sliders etc for $11.50). The view was phenomenal! I wish I knew how else to describe it.

If anyone wants the menu PM me and I'll text or email it to you.
I'm heading to Chicago in late May/early June for a weekend of Cubs games, staying at the Renaissance. Any suggestions on close good eats/activities? Wife and I, no car, we will have CTA passes tho. Nothing special needed, budget is low to medium price range. Thanks!

Also, since we'll be close to the Magnificent Mile, any places that are must see or must eats? Might check out Harry Caray's, as a Cubs fan, and I noticed the House of Blues isn't far either. Anything else that anyone can think of that is reasonably close to the Rennaissance on Wacker? Considering Navy Pier for the experience.
