Okay, I'm taking this from the interwebs and the kids.

"Stan" means to be a huge fan of to the point of obsession. It's taken from the Eminem song, Stan. Duh.

So, I'm going to name a film director and then you will fill out this form about him/her:

If I stan: (yes or no)
My favorite work:
Their most overrated film:
Their most underrated film:

If this catches on, we can do more than just film directors.

So let's start with:

MARTIN SCORSESE

If I stan: not really
My favorite work: Taxi Driver
Their most overrated film: Raging Bull
Their most underrated film: The Age Of Innocence

Your turn!

Okay, but this Stan stuff is a bit too much. Nevertheless,

Hitchcock

If I Stan: need you ask.

My Favorite: Strangers on a Train

Most Overrated: Vertigo

Most Underrated: The Birds

Explanation: How could the greatest film of all time be overrated? Simply because it's been voted the greatest of all time.

Hitchcock

Favorite: Psycho

Most overrated: Psycho

Most underrated: Psycho

Explanation: you can't kill off a main character in the first half of a movie. But he made it work. But also, if you do, stabbing the ***** while showering is cheap and tawdry and so exciting that it will make you scream.

I completely agree with John about the silly STAN thing.

He was in that Tom Cruise movie where the Great Santini plays a sniper. He also wrote Portnoy's Complaint.

Tbh, I don't see Taxi Driver as overrated so much as misunderstood. Once you see it as Travis Bickle's mishandling of his white male privilege, the whole movie just pops.

I think it would be fun if they made a sequel where Travis Bickle (assuming he lives) capitalized on his heroics and became...let's say...President.

Most overrated: Starman

*Even though there is no escape from New York; I’ve been there and know this is true.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Coen Bros:

Exactly what Phat said, except I don't STAN. Millennial Silliness should be Stomped On.

really can't blame them if you dislike any plot points as they basically just copy and pasted from cormac's book.

it's gotta be the most faithful adaptation of a novel ever made.
it's also an absolutely perfect film imo.

OK. First step for me is to re-read the book. I remember thinking that they had changed everything. I've got a dozen books ahead of it, but will report back when I'm finished re-reading it.

it's a fantastic book and they hardly changed anything.

some minor stuff off the top of my head (haven't great it in a few years)

Spoiler:
they left out the sheriff's backstory from the war and the minor sub plot where Llewelyn picks up a teen girl hitchhiker/runaway which ultimately distracts him and allows the Mexican gang who's tracking him to get the jump on him and kill him in the motel shootout

other than those two things I can't think of anything they really changed and it's pretty crazy just how faithful the adaptation is.
