I feel just reading this thread is life changing.
I travelled for the last 2 summers, but had no where near as much fun as i heard most people have. Think reading this has helped me see i need to be friendlier and let my guard down when i first meet new people.

Did this ever spawn a book because I would love to read it. Congrats, you bumped MT2R from the position of my favorite thread ever.

I want to insult the OP very badly, I don't know if I am jealous of his experiences or if he is being dishonest (there is something very odd about these memoirs).

Have just finished the Canadian part, which I completely breezed over in this thread. Did you get in contact with the person that I told you to get in contact with?

I just came across this thread and read it all in one sitting.
This was very inspiring... it's something I didn't know that I needed to hear.
Thanks adsman. If the book comes to fruition, I would buy.

Ads - I'm only halfway through this and am blown away. You're clearly a good writer and your life has been sick. This should be bound, copied and distributed to the masses.

speaking of lucky I got directed to this forum for the MMA thread and found this goldmine!

Earlier in the thread you said that you hoped your story could help/inspire (cant remember the exact terminology) someone to change their lives for the better and judging by the feedback here I'd say it's alot more than one person.

although reading from start to finish was fun cause people ask questions after each installment and get a little extra stuff answered etc so just read the whole thing imo

I've got 5 more quarters in college to finish that I believe are definitely worth my time but I'm working my ass off to save up the money to move to Argentina or wherever I want to go at the time. This thread is unbelievable.

Adsman, your stories are amazing. Combine that with colourfull writing technique and you have made a thread that inspired so many of us. Thank you very much for sharing!

Having read this in one sitting and also read all the replies it got me thinking again about poker and life.
Learning many years of your life at school and then getting a job is the standard, secure way of life in the western world. And I also feel happy to be able to do that, because my parents were not able to grow up in a prosperous and secure country as I do now.

But is life meant to be working 9-to-5 at a job till you're 60? I always felt some resentment/ fear thinking about that: getting in a routine for the rest of your life.

The pokerboom has brought so much (financial) happiness and freedom to many. Internetpoker can be played anywhere, anytime. You can grind 60 hours a week and then take a month vacation. Internetpoker can earn more than traditional jobs.

But here I find myself grinding through the limits sitting alone behind a computer many, many hours per day. I'm stuck in a routine!!!

This thread reminds me that I have to find that right balance again in life between earning money and maximizing the value out of life I have here.
