Downtown, the ca$h 4 gold is really damn good. Haven't had the north&western yet and I was meh on the something hoppy. Something hoppy is very individual though as some people love sorachi hops.

Looks like NvU is back and they aren't putting it on hiatus. That's the right decision IMO

Well I'm back from the US and although I didn't taste that many Belgian-style US beers, I got really into the IPAs and now I am sad you can't get them over here in Euroland.

if you're in the UK, look for the Kernal Brewery. They do a lot of american-style stuff. Mikkeller out of denmark does a lot of american-styled beers as well. So, not all hope is lost

where do you live? I want up on that rodenbach, like, right now

fyi, if you haven't had the flanders fred, don't expect it to be a flemish red. It's more a wild ale as it's blonde. Still really good, but not a red

I live in Vegas, but grabbed some of the beers (including the Rodenbach) in California.

Thx for the heads up on the flanders fred. Ive never had it before.

Since you sound like you know your sours, have you had either of the Mikkeller It's Alive! wild ales? I noticed the Whole Foods I go to had them both in stock. They were pricey and they had quite a few in stock and I ended up buying some other stuff they were short on so I passed at the time.

I've personally never enjoyed the Mikkeller "It's Alive!" before - not nearly worth the price imo. I think they're a little bit of a mess.

I was weary of buying this cuz I thought there may be too much coffee flavor, but this is delicious!

I find Duchess too vinegary, but the Jacobins is a wonderful sour - real tart.

My favorite sours these days are from Cascade. Also loved Oude Tart from The Bruery.

Just got two Oude Tarts and have a Cascade Apricot on the way from Letspour.com.

I have never seen Cascade in the stores but I went to Sour Beer Fest outside of San Diego last July and Cascade stole the show imo. They had some live barrels (no clue what that means) of some stuff that I doubt will ever hit the shelves that were super complex. Just a ton of different flavors in every sip.

I've been wanting to take a trip to the NW for a long time, I've never been. Hopefully next Summer.

Drank a 2012 Bourbon County Coffee Stout today. Had one fresh in April and barely got through it (so strong, both from the coffee and the bourbon). After 6 months of aging, it drank perfectly and was one of the best beers I've ever tasted.

PTS,

I wasn't even aware these other bourbon county stout varieties existed. Excited to track some down and try them!

Goose Island just introduced another new Bourbon County variant, Cherry Rye. If you're familiar with GI's Madame Rose (oud bruin-style with Michigan cherries), this one uses the same cherries and is aged in rye whiskey barrels. I'm excited to try it... if I can track down a bottle.

A little more on the Bourbon County variant release: http://beerpulse.com/2012/11/goose-i...-black-friday/

Had a fresh 2012 Backwoods Bastard. Was good - toffee and bourbon are present, but I like the 2011 version a lot better right now with a year on it.

They're very hard to get. I've only ever seen them in Chicago and its usually 1 btl PP(not sure what it is at goose island as I usually work on those release days)

Gonna open up a bunch of pipeworks tonight for the bears game. Will also dig into the last of my founders harvest ale

Boooo, not surprised though.

Had some dogfish head chicory stout tonight, that's good stuff.
