Was able to grab 6 12 oz bottles and a bomber of KBS this morning, which is plenty for me. I'm more excited about the Lagunitas Waldos and Born Again Yesterday I found. Looking forward to trying those tonight

Born again definitely one of the best shelfies

went to one store looking for KBS. I didn't even end up asking if they had any bc they had Sunday Morning Stout sitting out there, and I also picked up

Exhibit A: The Cat's Meow
Funky Buddha Nib Smuggler (so random this was sitting there)
more Mass Rising

KBS is a great beer but not worth chasing

Bode,

Looking forward to your Waldos review. Tons of that and other lagunitas all over the place here. Almost grabbed a 6-pack but I had just bought a couple of modern times, blazing world and one I hadn't tried booming rollers IPA.

Pretty delicious. Bright, crisp, and tasty. Big citrus flavor, nice amount of hoppy bitterness but still refreshing and easy drinking. Big fan of this.

Seems like KBS is more available this year. I live in Louisiana and at a beer fest last Saturday they had a 1/4 tapping and I was able to go through 8 times over an hour before they ran out. Walked in a Rouses across the street from me and they had a 4 pack behind the liquor/lotto/tobacco counter. $19.99 for a 4 pack.

Went everywhere in town last year and could not get a damn bottle. I always try to seek it out since I grew up in Michigan and it reminds me of home. Still have never seen CBS down here tho.

Diablo,

Waldos was just OK imo. I'm an IPA > DIPA guy mostly, so this was way too sweet for me at almost 12%. The alcohol was well hidden though. Glad I only got 1 bottle.

This, however, was ****ing fantastic!

Just a smack in the face with super fresh hops and a great fruity flavor. I wish everything smelled this good.

Really wish this was a shelfie. We didn't get a ton here in Indy.

Might not appeal much to those of you with access to Treehouse etc, but for the benefit of the UK contingent (which is who? TDA, at least) yesterday's haul was:

UK
  • Buxton Red Raspberry Rye
  • Cloudwater DIPA v13 (last of the v series)
  • Howling Hops DIPA New England Special
  • Villages Rodeo Pale Ale

International
  • Alpine Beer Co Pure Hoppiness Double IPA
  • Brewski Pango IPA
  • Green Flash Palate Wrecker Imperial IPA
  • Lervig Tasty Juice Double Hopped Citra IPA
  • Modern Times Blazing World Amber
  • Modern Times Fortunate Islands with Grapefruit
  • Panhead Supercharger APA

I'm pretty pleased given the variable quality of what makes it to our shores.

The Cloudwater was a fitting end to the series and I thought the Lervig was pretty good too. Very fresh/juicy. The rest await...

Really like those three, just grabbed some blazing world this week. The fortunate islands with grapefruit zest I think is an amazing beer.

Stout fans,

Failed at finding any kbs, but one of these was sitting on the shelf at Whole Foods so I grabbed it:

Beer lovers,

Tried a couple new ones this weekend.

Modern times dymaxion - pretty good pale ale. Lot of citrus/grapefruit and a little tropical sweetness, but not the level of flavor the description sounded like. A little lighter/thinner than I expected, very easy drinking and refreshing. Solid beer, nothing super special. I'd happily drink this again, but won't go looking for it. $6/bomber so won't buy this when I can get fortunate islands, blazing world, booming rollers, etc for $11/4x16oz.

Grimm sugarmaker milk stout. Damn this was good. Like a chocolate milkshake with layers of espresso and vanilla flavor. Very easy drinking, super smooth. $12/bomber, loved it for that price.

Mullen, was it you who said grab all the grimms? Or maybe kc. A few have been just solid, but some of these are just amazing for $12 bombers. Happy they're out here now.

I've had pretty much every beer they've released in the last 2 years, with the exception of recent IPAs because the demand is stupid here. Always grab the bombers though. Only like 2-3 have been less than very good. Sugarmaker was great, sounds like you guys get the releases a bit behind in SF since I remember that one hitting shelves here a decent bit ago. Pretty much anything dry hopped sour or stout is great from them. They make really unique stuff too like this dessert Berliner series they're doing (Cherry Raspberry Pop, Blackberry Orange Pop, with more to come).

Mullen,

Reviewed the blackberry orange pop last week, along with Super Going which I thought was excellent.

Btw, in my sugarmaker review a couple posts up that should say very easy drinking FOR AN 11.5% BEER.

Had a '15 Fremont BA Abdomidable (B-Bomb) last night. So good, I love Fremont's big stuff.

RE KBS discussion, my favorite part about that beer is the sub .50 per oz price point for a very good BA stout. I've paid double that price for worse beers than KBS that I still felt were good.

Went to my local packy and they still had about 20 of the big bottles of KBS so I grabbed some. Also got some mass rising, a sampler of barrel aged framinghammer (PB&J, Mole, cordon rouge, and regular) plus I took their last 4 pack of frootwood. I know that wasn't popular in this thread, but my fiancee tried it on tap recently and liked it plus the price wasn't offensive ($16/4 pack) so whatever.

Also I need to transfer where I do my beer buying. There were 3 places close to my apartment that got KBS last thursday. They all put on twitter that they had it. 2 sold out within a couple of hours. The third still had a bunch today. Same thing happened with this place and BCBS and I was able to get a bunch of it there in mid december. It is not properly a packy, and I think people don't know to look there for beers but they consistently have an unbelievable selection and the least competition for limited releases.

Yeah I just noticed that at a local bottle shop too and had the same reaction.

They also had Lost Abbey Track #10 (BA imp stout) which was phenomenal on tap but I balked at $20 for a 12 oz bottle (sorry, 375ml which is 12.7oz). Their stuff is good but jesus it's expensive.

Then I saw a sixer of the Lagunitas High Westified Coffee Stout for $15. Yes please!

Lagunitas pricing is so great. Waldos $12/6, BAY $20/12, High West $15/6. just a steal overall compared to everyone else these days.

lol suckers

I decided to swing by random priced beer target to see if they had anything good in stock and saw a few of these with no price tag. Scanned one and saw the price, figured I pretty much had to buy at least a couple.
