Just trying to explain to Mr. Voight the significance of the tap. He doesn't understand that the person who taps is quitting and thus losing the fight in the process. For some reason he sees the tap as just some sort of break before the interview session.
I watched the fight. Sonnen quit. like he has many times in his career. That's my point.

Its 2012 and people still act like professional fighters are actually scared of other guys their size.

re: Backfist Backfire (EDF July MMA Thread)
Also I never said Chael should retire if he loses or anything silly, I am saying hes really putting all his eggs into one basket over this fight. Like I said, people can pretend hes amazing popular and exciting to watch, but hes not to the casual fans, and in reality this card isn't going to even break a million buys. Should it? Hell yes, but like I said good luck trying to hype up a fight with him vs Tim Bosche on UFN 37 after this if he somehow loses.
I will admit I marked out during that staredown, Anderson looks visibly upset, and I thought to myself "OMG Chael gone pissed him off!!" but I hope Anderson doesn't go out fighting dumb on emotion because that would be perfect way to get double legged to Bolivia.

Haha, Chael sometimes makes we wish we had a hero as awesome as him. Is it to late for GSP to make his heel turn? Man I am still torn on who I WANT to win, but I think Anderson will take it.
Heres a ok topic on the discussion, for whoever you are picking to win, how do you idealing want it to go down?
I want Anderson to win, but I want it to go 3-4 rounds where Chael does his thing for at least 2 rounds, but gets dropped hard in one round and survives to lose in the 4th or 5th via TKO in a close back and forth fight. Man I sound like one of those highschool counselors explaining that everyone can be a winner....

Ideally it would play out like the Griffin fight. Total domination from Ninja Silva. First 1rd KO and no need for a trilogy. Silva's to old to be fighting the same guy 3 times if all are defenses.

re: Backfist Backfire (EDF July MMA Thread)
I want to see Chael stop Anderson. Some weird ear shot to gnp tko, a take down that lands him in a mount and just pitter patters Anderson until the ref stops it, by some crazy way he sinks in a rear naked during a scramble. I don't care if Chael goes onto lose badly in his next fight, I don't care if he gets popped for high test levels a few days later. Stopping Silva would be the best possible outcome for the character he has built up. It would cause the MMA section of the internet to crash, the troll section of the internet would rejoice, some Silva fans would try and make their voices heard in the middle of the chaos and talk about how anyone could get caught. But, and most importantly of all, it would 100% cause some riots to break out in some random favela.

I almost feel like hes not supposed to win and never was. Like if you wrote this as a WWE story, I could see him never winning the belt.

re: Backfist Backfire (EDF July MMA Thread)
If this was the WWE his character 100% wins the belt, but he wins it by cashing in the briefcase after Anderson has a grueling fight against someone and then Chael goes onto say how quickly he beat Anderson.

I actually feel like that too.
I definitely want Chael to win, but have a hard time imagining it happening. Although I feel stylistically Chael should be a tough match up and have a real good shot at taking it, I just can't see him winning.

Stim and friends: thoughts on Chael attempting the fake tap bs in the first fight?
All: haven't had time to watch the whole presser yet but I saw the part where Andersen creepily moved his fingers and smiled while answering yes, he still plans to break chael's face. Not gonna be good for Chael IMO.

I can't pick against Anderson.
Hope to see Cote pick up a win in his return too.
