Search Anacardos gigantor thread in OOT as pretty much every meetup in the past couple years has been organized through it.

Haha Moe's & Joe's was my home during my years at Emory

There's too much in VH to touch on in one post, but here are a couple of my favorite things there.

Panita Thai is right next to the more popular Surin, but a completely different experience. There is literally only one guy who works there and he'll seat you, cook your food, serve you, etc. so it's a full night event, not just a short meal. The single Yelp review is kinda meh, but everyone I've known who went there loved it.

Moe's and Joe's. If you can put up with a bar full of Emory students (which is no easy task tbh) then it's a fun place to drink cheap on a Tuesday night.

Re: Atlanta: Your favorite things to do or places to go

Despite the praise for Bones and Chops, I have to give the best steak in Atlanta to either Hal's or Rathbun's. Both are far superior to Chops and Bones.

I live in Johns Creek (former Alpharetta) and work in Buckhead so anyone have any questions about those areas let me know.

For Johns Creek, Pure Taqueria is an absolute must. Small place with some of the best fish tacos and Texas Margaritas around. Long wait (1.5+ hours) on Thursday, Friday or Saturday but well worth it. Great food and atmosphere.

Does anyone know where Steamhouse lounge has relocated? I heard it was on Peachtree near Shout! but I havent seen it driving through. Craving their lobster bisque and a lobster roll.

I got a PM asking to start a thread like this, so instead let's see if this thread can get some more activity.

I've got a list of restaurants I've been to recently back at home so I'll update after work with all the fun goings on around Inman Park/Old 4th Ward area.

This thread seemed to die down right around the time I moved here...coincidence?

This probably isn't news to anyone who's been here for a while, but Antico is frickin' awesome and worth risking a mugging or two in Home Park for. Some of the best pizza I've ever had, great environment and BYOB. The have open communal seating/standing areas and it gets pretty packed on the weekends but you can usually find a place to squeeze in.

And to think, all these times, out of nostalgia I've been going to Rocky Mountain Pizza when that place is right down the road. Go Jackets, I guess.

Re: Atlanta: Your favorite things to do or places to go

Alright, so some recent dining exploits:

Parish - Like this place a lot. New Orleans-yish, but not really, definitely Southern cuisine. I've gone for dinner a couple times (TV dinner is always a good choice) and brunch also. For my money, they've got the best bloody Mary in the city. Also, if you're just looking for a quick bite, there's a little market on the lower floor with a back entrance that sells really good sandwiches and bottles of wine.

H Harper Station - this is my current favorite place to eat in Atlanta. The food is awesome, but the drinks. Oh, the drinks! If you like whiskey/rye/bourbon cocktails this is definitely the place to be. The dinner menu is short but sweet. They make a few things, but they make them as good as you'll get them.

Parkers on Ponce - Super overrated, if it's even rated. I lived like a mile from here for 3 years and never heard anyone talk about it. I finally went after moving down to Edgewood area and wasn't impressed. At least on my one experience it's a meh steak place that charges like it's something special.

Rosebud - I haven't been back since Nick Melvin left (he used to be at ESS and Parish) but at least back then it was amazing. Wherever he ends up will definitely be a spot to go.

Places I haven't been yet, but have heard great things about and are on the list:
Abattoir
Cardamom Hill
No. 246

Re: Atlanta: Your favorite things to do or places to go

Yeah, I would recommend it to anyone. Last time I had the hangar steak and girlfriend had butternut squash risotto (may not be on the menu atm).

For drinks: the Buffalo Negra is good, the 1890 Manhattan is really good, and The Boundary is amazing (kinda like a sazarac if you've ever had that. if you haven't go get one at Ormsby's). Girlfriend got the Ruby Slipper. She, like all girls, is a sucker for any drinks having St Germaine, rosewater, or grapefruit and this drink hit 2 of 3.

I've only been to Parish for brunch, but thought it was pretty solid. H Harper I went to about a year ago and wasn't particularly impressed. I paid something like $16 for a small bowl of pasta, but I've heard they got a new chef and improved some.

Have you been to Serpas? That's probably the best high end restaurant I've been to recently...really want to try Rathbun Steak as all of my friends rave about it.

For excellent Mexican outside the perimeter I recommend Taqueria Los Hermanos. They have locations in Tucker, Lilburn, Lawrenceville and Johns Creek.

What kind of stuff are you talking about? Mama's Pizza is a great place to grab a slice or two for lunch, but it's not the kind of restaurant you want to go to for a night out.

You can go to Roswell and get some pretty damn good cue at Swallow at the Hollow. There's a Pure Taqueria up that way too, but vibe is very whatever-the-Alpharetta-version-of-Buckhead-Betty-is.

I am often up near exit 12 (mcfarland) for lunch, I mean just basically anything that is "good", very broad inquiry.

Los Hermanos is awesome. Definitely my favorite mexican food in Georgia, but I don't eat it as much now that I'm in the perimeter aside from when I'm at my Mom's house for the holidays or something.

Roasted pork belly tacos for an app/small plate, charred corn & gouda side dish is amazing too.

I've been twice and got the Flat Iron steak once and the short ribs the other time. Thought both were very good. I particularly like the thai risotto that came with the steak.

When I visited Atlanta a few years back I really enjoyed Bacchanalia. Thought it was some really solid and inventive food.

Also really enjoyed going in to Stone Mountain Park.
