God 208 might not break 100k buys. Woof

Everyone want to still argue with me that Nate vs Cerrone isn't a PPV headliner?
01-01-2017 , 12:38 PM
What fights could Dana add to UFC 208 to make it 'PPV worthy'? It's six weeks away which might make it too close to add certain fights that make sense. Miocic-Werdum II if Stipe is ready? Cormier & Bisping won't fight until spring. The card is so weak, it's hard to believe they won't do something like find Anderson a fight.

Glad I bought 208 tickets.

Who said this? At this moment Nate vs. Cowboy at 160 is an easy headliner. Probably does 400k if paired with a couple other decent fights.

Assuming you can pay Nate enough to fight someone that isn't Conor, the hard part is the weight. Nate needs to stay at 155 to set up Nate/Conor III for the belt and Cowboy is doing work at 170. Catchweight makes sense, but also sort of takes away any "umph".

Pretty much the whole thread argued with me.

I'll dig it up.
01-01-2017 , 01:49 PM
Probably best not to as I'm sure I probably was part of the mob lol.

Regardless, the UFC really needs some natural stars right now and the Diaz bros'. and Cowboy are towards the top of the list

Whiners,

What will it take to ever satisfy you? It's not a worthwhile card unless Conor or Jon jones are fighting?

208 features the long awaited #4 v #10 Women's bantamweight showdown and the #8 v #9 heavyweight battle to once and for all settle the #7 contender debate! How much more do you need on a card to make you happy?

It wasn't as many arguing with me as I thought. Here's an example tho:

Diaz is probably not fighting until he gets the Conor rematch. This is the same guy that sat out for a year because he was pissed about his pay, and that was when he "didn't move the needle". Now that he's an undisputed draw, he's gonna be even more comfortable asking for the world. I think he said he wouldn't take another fight for less than 15 million.
01-01-2017 , 03:19 PM
That's also when he was making 20/20 after an upfront signing bonus.

Tougher to turn down if we're talking about a few million after PPV points.

But sure, he's prbly not taking another fight before Conor in all likelihood.

damn just saw scorecard...didn't realize Dom won the 1, 2, & 5th with 2 of the 3 judges.

Monster 4th round from Cody

01-01-2017 , 04:13 PM
I think Weeks gave Garbrandt the fifth round because he thought he'd look stupid scoring the fight for Cruz (or a draw). Not the way it should work.
01-01-2017 , 04:32 PM
Said it as the fight concluded, researched and had the same score: 48-46 Cody

10-9 NL
10-9 Dom
10-9 NL
10-8 NL
10-9 Dom

Weeks card is all sorts of lol. 4th seems a prototypical 10-8. At least two KDs one of which left Dom on wobbly legs.
01-01-2017 , 05:58 PM
Had it
10-9: Cruz
10-9: Cruz
10-9: NL
10-8: NL
10-9: Cruz

Will be super excited for rematch and to see the adjustments Cruz makes.

TJ vs Cody should be awesome. I could see them doing a Cleveland card in early 2017 with Stipe and Cody defending.

Apparently Woodley and Bisping have agreed on a 180 catch weight. God I hope the ufc doesn't do that.
01-01-2017 , 10:54 PM
Gross, but I can see why Woodly would prefer that over Wonderboy again, and why Bisping would love to avoid Yoel.
01-01-2017 , 11:01 PM
Just have it at 185 for the Middleweight title and after Woodley wins easily it sets up Conor v. Woodley, the Fight to End All Fights: Double Champion vs. Double Champion, winner gets all 4 belts

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Woodley or Bisping has to weigh in at 185 to fight for the middleweight title, I think the champion can weigh in at any number below 185 and still defend, if he's willing to risk it.
01-01-2017 , 11:29 PM
I'm sure you're right and they can weigh in anywhere from 170-185* and catch-weight is an arbitrary cutoff that they both agree to otherwise.

I guess I disagree that it's any number below 185 though.

*I would've assumed it was 171-185 but this

indicates otherwise.

Why would there ever be a lower weight floor to winning a title? Let's say Jose Aldo fights Bisping and wins while weighing in at 166, he doesn't get to be Middleweight champion? If anything he should be considered even more of a champ for accomplishing that.
01-01-2017 , 11:39 PM
They wouldn't let him fight if he weighed in at 166
