Instrumental was fun but that voice...

Bombino out of Agadez, Niger - superb
Its his guitar playing that drives the song forward but vocals are neat as well. You'll find out right away if youll like the song or not cause the intro sets a spark, or, well, doesnt

This is excellent

I actually listened to RA's Label of the Month podcast for Interdimensional Transmissions a few weeks ago, had some awesome tunes in it, need to check out some of their artists

Animal Collective, Wild Nothing, Porches were all disappointing IMO

Liked School of Seven Bells and Turin Brakes

I have now listened to new Kanye enough to compile a decent list of songs that i enjoy, sometimes a lot. Surely this is his least impressive album by a margin though.

Ultra Light Beam is flawless, but the only track that is. On its own it's stunning, largely thanks to Chances long verse

Famous with Rihanna features really nice sampling of Sister Nancy's Bam Bam - solid throughout

FML with weeknd is consistent, simple, good.

I think waves is ok and real friends, maybe Highlights and no more parties...

And he says another album is coming this summer

More or less my feeling about the album. Not really a big Kanye fan (don't actively dislike his music, it's just never struck me the way it seems to strike other people), so for me the album exceeded expectations. I think a large part of that is Ultralight Beam, though. Song is legitimately amazing. Famous definitely my #2 track, carried by the production. Rest of of the album is fine but no standouts, imo.

One of their best? Delighted to hear it in a Weeds episode, shocked that i couldn't identify the band right away. That said i hadnt heard of them until i stumbled upon The Rip Tide

Beirut - Scenic World (Spotify)

Only took 4min to be annoyed by Macklemore's preaching on the new album

Train ride will be spent exploring the downtempo tag on Bandcamp. Ill get back to you if i find anything. This year is off to a mediocre start music wise but thankfully the problem seems to be my lack of time invested

That’s what I want to promote. l want to promote living but also make it known that it’s OK to have problems. It’s not what you go through it’s how you get through it. This is the soundtrack of how to get through it.”

also, came across this 2013 song but it has only 98k views so maybe other people who would enjoy it also missed it the first time around. sax player from kaputt with female vocals and a great video:

lol yeah that part is a bit weird now that i think about it. i'm 30 and just okay so yeah idk

was thinking more of her positive outlook in general, rap can get a bit much with the nihilism and misogyny even for me at times, so it's nice with some non-preachy positive bangers

that said my favorite song atm is digits by nihilistic misogynist extraordinaire young thug. he's getting a bit philosophical on the hook of this one tho

and yeah def some oddball gems on that lil yachty tape
