Yeah I can dig it unlike their previous albums. Constellations is amazing, The Streets and Sam Carter are featuring in it right?

i posted this last year and no one responded, but Of Monsters and Men debut is real good.

Has anyone heard of Bored Man Overboard?

He might be the most blatant rip-off of The National I've ever heard. On one hand, I like it because I like The National, but on the other hand it sucks because it's not The National, just a seemingly pale imitation.

The First Aid Kit album is good.

if you like this new single as much as you like getting AIDS from a shared needle while shooting contaminated heroin that causes you to go permanently blind in a calcutta whorehouse, then yes, i like this new single as much as you do.

Haha, totally agree. I was on tilt listening to it but felt myself enjoying it. Dicked around on Youtube though and I think that might be his best track.

Also I'll take the heat but the Train song is catchy imo. Lol @ Michaelson griping about "stalker lyrics" -- wtf, that's like every song ever written about a guy chasing down a chick.

+1. Listened to the single (Emmylou, free on iTunes atm), liked it, did a little searching, found the NPR stream, set to buy album. What do you know, sometimes loss leaders work like they are supposed to.

"On the other side of a street I knew
Stood a girl that looked like you
I guess that's deja vu
But I thought this can't be true
Cause you moved to west L.A or New York or Santa Fe
Or where ever to get away from me

Oh but that one night
Was more than just right
I didn't leave you cause I was all through
Oh I was overwhelmed and frankly scared as hell
Because I really fell for you"

Stalkier than average imo.

Not sure about any other artists involved. I'm surprised you didn't like Take To The Skies, I don't think this album has much better than Sorry You're Not A Winner, Labyrinth, Jonny Sniper etc. Give Adieu another listen if you liked Constellations.

I couldn't enjoy it for that reason. Like after the Strokes emerged and every band sounded like a somewhat worse version.
01-23-2012 , 04:12 PM
I assume you guys all have the b-sides and off album tracks, but every track The National have done not just on their own studio albums are great. Not 2012 music, but can't help but post.

Thoughts on the new shins single?

Great song imo.

A little old but Lana del Rey was horrible on SNL and the Stereogum thread about it is hilarious.
