Has it reached the point where Animal Collective is supposed to fall into this category? I searched the thread and noticed no one posted or commented on their two new songs released about a month ago. (I liked both of them a lot btw).

Re: 2012 Music Thread

Silver Jews are one of my favorite bands period...thanks for the link.

Really looking to listening to the new Fiona tonight.

RE indie guilty pleasures, I suppose Vampire Weekend's first album fit that bill for me. I just hated their whole privileged New England loafer-wearing vibe or whatever, but liked the music. For non-indie pleasures, really any party music like LMFAO, Soulja Boy Tell'em, or Andrew W.K. There is something liberating about PARTY, SHOTS, or SWAG over and over again. But if you tell someone you like it they think you are an idiot.

Also loved the new songs definitely looking forward to the new album in September. I don't think they are a guilty pleasure at all, probably one favourite bands.

Not sure why they'd be a guilty pleasure. For me a guilty pleasure is George Michael or Ace of Base, not Vampire Weekend or The Shins or some band who got popular enough for your mom to like them.

For me Animal Collective fall more in the opposite category where I feel pressure to like them even though their appeal flies completely over my head.

Excellent interview. I always like hearing about the dynamics between Berman and Malkmus

The Roots are so damn awesome.

And I unashamedly love that song. As a summer sing-a-long pop song, it's pretty perfect.

Re: 2012 Music Thread

I've probably watched the Carly Rae x Jimmy Fallon x Roots video atleast 10 times since it came out. The song is so good and the dude with the kazoo kills it.
