been really getting into this guy lately, love the fact he raps about food so often. He quit culinary school to become a rapper.

So glad I found this thread

for anyone in LA or going to be in LA for coachella, here is a schedule of sideshows some bands are doing:

Here's a vid from one of the ATDI reunion shows:

At least Cedric looks like hes having fun lol.

Kind of weird how sedate it feels, but only because of how high they set the bar back in 2000 or so when their shows were just completely frenetic bursts of energy with Cedric jumping all over the place.

That said I'd still kill to be able to see them live.

Fans of Beach House might enjoy this, although they're a bit more experimental:

I like the Chromatics album quite a bit now that I've purged it down to 11 tracks/46 minutes.

FYI: in addition to the Coachella live stream running at youtube.com/coachella if you just search "Artist" Coachella 2012 on YouTbe their set will have been uploaded by someone.

So far I've watched M83 and St. Vincent and they were both amazing performances.

Some cool new songs lately, I really like Niki and the Dove, never heard of them before:

This is especially good imo:

Having a real tough time finding good heavier rock or metal lately. Especially metal, it all sounds pretty bland. I spent hours digging through all kinds of bands on Amazon and Google music the last couple of days and nothing was really grabbing me at all.

Most of what I like is early 90s-era type rock/heavy rock/metal/industrial. Keep running into emo bands, or the same old "dark-metal-from Sweden" thing, or one of these retro low-fi White Stripes type of groups. Now there's this Arcade Fire and Bon Iver stuff which puts me to sleep.

Just going to toss out a bunch of the better-known bands I actually like, would be open to suggestions if anybody knows where I'm coming from.

Faith No More/Bungle
Rammstein
NIN
Pantera
Muse
AIC
Tool
Nirvana
Zombie
Toadies
PJ Harvey
QotSA
Appetite era GNR

More recently I've come across some groups like Chevelle, Thrice, Killers which are all okay but something a little harder would be nice. Also went back and bought some old records by Filter, Sevendust, Concrete Blonde that I like a lot, but I'm trying to find some newer stuff to add on.

Sounds like you just want nostalgia with your music, which I'm not sure any recommendation can really provide

Not really. Not that I don't have some good memories attached to some of those bands (I do), it's just that I'm finding it hard to get suggestions that are somewhat relevant. For example, someone recently pointed me toward Cradle of Filth, Arcade Fire & Deathstars after being given a similar list - which all seem pretty far off the mark, or at least I don't see much of a connection.
