The men - open your heart - meh. Soulless? Retreadish
U guys listen to any of these?
I'm glad someone else feels this way... I hate this album with a passion but everyone else seems to love it. Beyond even being a retread, every song on the album is basically just an inferior version of another band's aesthetic. And they bring nothing else to the table, have no personality, etc. Soulless is a good word to describe it.
Sucks because this was an album I was really excited for, since I've been wanting some rock, but they just end up tilting me with their lack of originality/subsequent praise.

Reason: youtube fail
New Beach House seems like kind of a step sideways from Teen Dream. I won't complain, but also think they could have done something better (or more interesting, at least).

I, for now at least, agree that latest The Men is disappointing. Leave Home from last year is good tho. Anyways, here's some rock for you (it's not from 2012, it's from 2010 actually but was released in US in 2011 but many of you may not have heard, and anyways it's awesome and as a Norwegian I should reprazent):
Also, for music from 2012 I think the Perfume Genius album someone mentioned above is really good and surprised to see few or no mentions of it before that post. Following up the machismo of Kvelertak with this gayness:

The retail release date isn't until May and I heard the version that is floating around the internet(from, er, a friend?) is a transcode, are sure it's for real?
It's definitely the album if that's what you're asking, but it's not in the greatest quality and one of the tracks seems to cut off on mine. Maybe a better quality version will change my opinion a bit, idk.
lol thats the first time ive seen the 'hood' video. definitely evocative. it's always interesting listening to music first and then adding a visual component.. similar effect of a movie adaptation of a book with the whole 'not how i envisioned it' feeling.
Album drops June 11, they are already booked to play Toronto. I'm doing everything in my power to book them here. For our market, that's actually a risk. sigh.
Luckboxed two tickets for Jack White at Roseland Ballroom through the Ticketmaster onsale after sleeping through the Vault presale on wednesday; going to see Fiona Apple tomorrow night... life ain't so ****ty.
Saw that movie The Raid today (btw, it's pretty awesome -- basically a video game come to life but with insane action) and this particular track slew in the movie. It's probably better in the film because of the images that accompany the ups and downs, but for fans of big beat electronica (think Propellerheads, Crystal Method, etc.) it's worth a listen -- and see the movie.
