Lateness notwithstanding, I saw GN'R for their New Year's show at the Joint and they were blazing. Axl sounded almost as good as ever, the 3 dudes they have replacing Slash combined to sound almost as good as Slash, and they played for over 3 hours.
I was there for the last concert the "real" GN'R ever played at the Coliseum in 1989 and this was a much better rock show than that.
I would definitely go out of my way to see them at The Ritz (or what used to be the Ritz) on 2/15 if I lived on that side of the country.
It's really a shame that the 5 original members of GN'R can't work it out and get together for a tour. They are all sober and playing separately with their own bands to produce ****tier versions of what they could be doing together. Even Steven Adler seems to be holding it together... I saw his band play last year and he still has that groove that helped make them so good in the 80s.
