I think Villain could be value betting AQ, sets, maybe 97, and 108 that got there. I beat only flush draws that were played very aggressively and pair plus straight draws, Should I have called down on the river or given up earlier possibly the turn since I'm dead to sets and straights? I picked up a gutshot so that pushed me closer towards calling the turn.

97Q

What's villain raising flop with is the question? Do you have stats on them?

Definitely doing this with AQ, KQ, JT
99 x 3, 77 x 3, QQ, plus any slow played KK, AA

Throw in some more flush draws AJ, AK, AT
Possibly, JTo x 15, AQo x 8, KQo x 6, QJ x 6, T8 x 16 if they play this hand from MP2.

So you're beating JT, T8, QJ, doing well but not great against the flush draws

There's no doubt the J is a bad turn card for you to take a check call line against. You may pick up a gunshot but the cards you were getting value against aren't betting unless they are bluffing good flushes or beating you.

Merging your range with a check raise might get good value from the flush draws? Villain may think they have implied odds thinking you have straight??
