I'm starting now to put ranges to players especially there 3 and 4bets when seen. However with others ie VPIP 20% with a PFR of 15% if I put 15% into pokerstove that should roughly give me his Raising range?

Not exactly. Putting 15% into pokerstove will simply give you a top 15% opening range.

However, we would expect a 20/15 player to be at least semi-competent and positionally aware. So his overall 15% PFR stat is comprised of everything from his tightest range (UTG) to his widest range (BTN). Depending on the villain, this could range from, say, 10% UTG to 40% BTN, for example.

you should look at a players open raise, isolation, 3bet, 4bet range seperatelly. They are all different but all add up to his overall PFR %.

So continuing with the 20/15 player. If I've got around 200 hands on him. He PFR UTG. From Hud shows he opens 6% of the time from here. Then later on he opens from C/O where he's does 30% of the time

I know it can never be exact but on the first example I could put 6% into pokerstove as a guide and adjust as and when I see his cards. It's not something I'm going to use long term just something quick and easy whilst I'm starting to give a player a range in certain spots.

I'm already marking players 3bet and 4bet ranges when I see them

One other point to mention is that not all 12% ranges, for example, are created equally.

You could have 2 villains with an 10% opening range from UTG but their ranges could differ. One may decide to open small PP's from that position, while the other may decide to fold those, but open mid SC's. It really is villain dependent.
