Good. Those are the states the most inclined to make a fuss about online poker. So be it, less of a chance of Merge to get DOJ'd.

Good is a relative word. I don't think he meant it was good in terms of 'this is awesome'. It's just good in the sense that we should have something to hold us over until they have legislation, which hopefully comes about soon.

It's like your a sex addict and your super blackout drunk and you need happen to score the last woman at the bar with a decent body and the face of $*#). Sure, your probably not happy that you just banged the closest thing to a man face, but at least the last girl at the bar wasn't godzilla with the face of $*#& (which the equivalent of no poker).

ROFL. That pretty much covers it. Really does. I'm hopeful that a few in congress are jumping on the bandwagon to try to introduce a bill to legalize online poker. I don't know how it will work at a national level, because I would think the state would have to be on board too. But there is just too much tax money at stake, and you know how our government loves taxes. Tax me DAMN nITS!

There are a couple bills in the works - HR 1174 and a new bill from the republicans that will go through the House Committee on Commerce rather than Financial. Also, Nevada has just passed a bill to initiate ipoker businesses and sites should be up as soon as a bill passes. The PPA and the players are unified in getting something through. I think there are good things happening and hopefully the light at the end of the tunnel is near.

Anybody want to help me get money off RPM Poker (up to $1600)? I will pay vig and will take Netspend, Greendot, BOA transfer, or maybe a different method I haven't thought of. PM me if interested.

I am going to have to disagree.

Good is good. This is... something else. I'm not sure what, but "good" would not be at the top of my list of words used to describe it.

Nobody seems safe. This second round of indictments should make that pretty clear. If they're going after these tiny sites (even if it was supposedly under the banner of "sports betting") how can Merge be off of their radar? If they were 100% safe, they wouldn't be restricting states from playing.

Believe me, I'm hopeful that something gets passed (sooner rather than later) as well, but the US doesn't exactly have the best track record with moving super swiftly on this sort of thing. I guess that they're a lot like FTP in that regard.

So my cashout request from a few days ago is still pending (shocker)... but I logged in to check status, and besides a few dollars in rakeback from my last day playing there is an unexplained $75 credit I received. It doesn't appear to be a part of any bonus, came in separate from the rakeback payment (about an hour later on the ledger). I'm certainly not complaining... I'll prob play with my now $80ish balance on some 10nl tables or something later and see what I can do... but anyone have any idea what that could be from?

Additional question: The article above where Merge says its not accepting NEW customers from some states, New York included... wondering how this will effect me as a New York customer who's been on for a while now... have they stated that current customers would be able to continue playing?

pretty sure you're good, people in internet poker/nvg say current accounts are 'grandfathered.' not sure exactly what that means except that you can still play. maybe someone else can elaborate.

Lol yeah cool little surprise... might have to dwan it up and try to start a new bankroll from that... still would like to know where it came from..

Thanks for the news on the grandfathering in issue... not sure how that can even make any difference to the company in terms of appearing more legitimate, but whatever.

How you holding up since going for the full cashout md? Job hunt looking any better? =\

Yeah it doesn't make them look totally legit but it can't hurt. I'm in the camp that sees this as a "good" sign. I think the only way to approach post-Black Friday is with positivity, hopefully the tides will turn soon.

Lock Poker let me combine my current funds with my last pending check so I was able to make a max cashout. I'll keep this thread updated when I'm approved and when I receive the check.

Job search went okay, walked around the mall. Gonna apply to like 30 or so jobs there, hopefully I'll get something. Probably be the mouse at Chuck E. Cheese LOL.

Yeah it's not a very good situation for poker in general. But I think it's good that Merge is making steps towards caution. I plan to play on there until things calm down.

Lmao.. expect pics to be posted of you in mouse costume if/when...

I worked in accounting for a bit over a year (got my degree in that) but hated it. Left my job a few months ago and have been living off savings and live poker winnings since then. Was really trying to get my online game consistent though past few months since the nearest place to play live is AC and its a pain to drive all the time. Know some local cardrooms but I'm not sure I trust them, plus some unexpected bills and poor br management left me without a comfortable roll to play live with.

Anyway I just got my real estate license -- was doing it to satisfy family really who didn't want me to keep playing poker, and now I'm getting set up with a nearby agency and I'm going to give that a go and see how it suits me. Would say you should consider it, its easy to get licensed it just takes a couple hundred bucks and a course you can finish in about 3 weeks. Once your in its a lot of work but the potential income really has no ceiling (yes, even in this market there's plenty of real estate business), and you still have the luxury of making your own hours to an extent and not having to answer to a "boss" or anything like that. Just some food for thought.

so would you guys recommend not depositing at this point if you are from one of those states listed in the withdrawal? I already have an account, but have not yet deposited.

I wouldn't. I'm not in one of those states and after the latest round of indictments I don't think I'm going to deposit anywhere in the immediate future.

well that just sucks. I made a withdrawal from my account about a week ago and was planning on leaving a small amount in, but I think that's kinda blah at this point. Anyone know if I'm better off

a) letting the first pending withdrawal go through and then making a second one?

b) cancelling the first one and just making a new WD to empty the roll?

c) cancelling the first one and trying to get a xfer

thanks for the tip man, i'll definitely take that into consideration. i definitely need some non-slave wage options (not that poker wasn't slave wage lol). real estate sounds good, i'll check out what's available in my area.

local cardrooms are always a trip...might not to hurt to hustle up some home games too...just have to bear all the painful plays, misdeals, and the slower-than-casino-wow pace.

and ofc Chuck E. Cheese pics will be provided but let's pray i get a job at wetzel's pretzels or something instead.

message your rep, tell them you've been patiently waiting for your first withdrawal, request they maintain your place in queue but let you cancel your first withdrawal so you can withdraw for the full amount you want.

When's the last time anyone here successfully cashed out from merge, or carbon specifically? Don't want to start a panic maybe I'm just heated right now but thinking about the facts has me really pissed. WU money to some name in the philipines, takes no effort to get money on to play... then you request a cashout and according to some people they have had their cashout requests pending approval for over a month? Like really? I emailed customer support yesterday morning (because suddenly the 24hr live chat was not available...) nicely explaining that I just wanted to know how long it may take for approval and that if they needed any ID verification to speed along the process I would be happy to supply whatever they need... All I got back was an automated message saying they would respond within 4-8 hours and I still haven't heard anything... Is this stupidly sketchy or what?

Just suddenly starting to feel like the ultimate scheme... and obviously making me wish this stupid damn country would regulate this business already so customers can be protected from all of this nonsense...

Sorry for the rant but had to get it out... any comments?
