NL4: QQ & a wet flop

I'm pretty sure I butchered this hand.

V was 24/19 with no 3bets in 141 hands. We were short handed though and so I took his min 3bet as a resteal attempt (not saying I'm right here - just talking about how I thought at the time).

Once he calls I put him on something like JJ+ (with AA & KK discounted due to no 5bet/shove) & maybe some AKs, AQs type hands.

Flop comes and he cbets (4/8 in the past). I have a nice overpair and I'm thinking he doesn't have a lot of AA/KK in his range and he might be cbetting without hitting this flop so I call. Turn bricks, he goes AI (which I should have expected I suppose) and I bail, muttering to myself.

So what SHOULD I have done pre-flop? Call instead of 4bet? I feel like the pot grew out of control to where I was uncomfortable fast, and that's mostly due to my 4bet.

As played, was I right to fold the turn? Should I have folded the flop?

Thanks in advance...

If I understand you correctly you're saying I basically had one read (and strategy) pre-flop and then failed to follow up / played post-flop completely differently - if that's what you're saying I would sadly agree.

I really didn't expect the turn cbet...not saying I shouldn't have, just admitting that it really threw me for a loop.

I wouldnt be folding the turn as played. Have to say call 4bet and lead the flop is one of the most tilting plays ever, same goes for call 3bet and lead. Dont they know its check to the raiser.(obviously we always have AK which whiffed when this happens apart from this hand)

So basically I got scared on the turn when it was for the rest of my stack (sad but true) but shouldn't have (either b/c I went AI OTF as Exo suggested or simply call here)?

I think your analysis is pretty good. And based on it you should be calling on the turn. Plus you were already pot committed. It was less than a half pot bet. If you called the flop you should have been ready to get it in.
