Need help progressing from 10NL to 25NL

Hello, I used to play a bit online 9-max micro stakes ring games 24 tabling (NL10), then found very easy £1 £2 live game and started making very good money - unfortunately all of the 'gamblers' playing in this game moved to Omaha which I don't care to learn so I came back to online at the start of the month.

I've played since then: Firstly 20k hands NL2 winning at 4.43 bb/100

Next I played 32k hands of NL10 winning at 6.26 bb/100

Then tried NL25 which was my inital goal, but after 15k hands had lost at a rate of 9.68 bb/100 while running exceptionally bad with roughly 200bb of tilted stacks thrown in there.

The reason I made the post is because even though its only a small hand history, I felt as though the game was harder than at 10NL especially with people defending their blinds and re-raising my steals.

Not just looking for general random advice about the changes between stakes, but would love to have someone PM me that is a winning player at this stake to discuss to me the flaws with my game

p.s. I play on stars - also I couldn't find anywhere to attach an image of my graphs / stats.

Post some of your hands where you are losing in the part of the forum. It might help identify some of your leaks in certain spots.

Look at some of the 25nl hands already posted.

Play less tables if you aren't already

Re: Need help progressing from 10NL to 25NL

I'm fairly surprised at how small a sample size you have at each stake before you've decided that you are good enough to move up. I'm not sure i am winning player at NL5 and have 82k hands at 6.42 bb/100. Like i've just had a downswing for 20k hands that was pretty bad and i think you need to experience that.

I suspect I am a winner but like i say i've had some epic 12 bi downswings that make me concerned about my ability to think clearly under pressure.

Essentially this post is don't run before you can walk. You should grind at NL10 for 100k hands as you'll get a better sense of how good you are and learn more so that when you are ready to step up you'll be able to deal with it.

I took a shot at NL10 when i was under rolled and before i was ready and it nearly took me out of playing poker but i'm so happy that i managed to go back and work it out at NL5. I actually have become a far better poker player for taking the shot failing and then toughing it out with a massively depleted roll at NL5

Re: Need help progressing from 10NL to 25NL

try not 24 tabling?

Also, any reason you don't like Omaha? If the fish are playing that game at the live tables, it might be worth your while to learn the game for cheap online.

As for restealing, remember that restealing comes at a big cost to the restealer. You can be folding the large majority of your steals and continuing with a strong part of your range. I'm not saying to only continue with the nuts, but it's ok to fold to resteals, even if they are bluffs.

Sorry I'm pretty new to twoplustwo, what does SN stand for? I assume screen name in which case its Zurgok
Anyone can feel free to add me on skype if you want me to screen share my stats or talk - adam.bonham

The reason I'm moving up stakes too fast is because I couldn't make a living from any lower than NL25

The reason I don't want to learn Omaha to beat the super fishy live game is because while it would be a goldmine, the players play 6-card and every hand is atleast 3way all in on the flop playing at £2 £2 sitting £500 - £1000 stacks - the swings would be too huge. I was wanting to move to online anyway

Use photobucket.com or something like that to post your stats. I will take a look see if anything stands out if you like.

Re: Need help progressing from 10NL to 25NL

Making a living playing micro stakes poker is pretty difficult even for the best players.....and in all honesty if your having difficulty moving up to nl25 I would suggest your not really in a position to start thinking about online poker as a legitimate career...grind through nl10 and nl25 until you have like a grand, move to nl50 and if you are beating that over a sample of say 100,000 you can probably say you can make a decent fist of making a living from poker......
The fact that you tilted off two stacks because you got frustrated is another big indicator that you probably shouldn't be putting you life into the fate of the poker gods.......
I'm not saying your game isn't necaserily good enough, but putting all your life into it is pretty fool hardy untill you know you can make a consistent decent living.

Always oneeee dummaasss...

I get it dude. I got destroyed when I initially moved up to the 25 tables, raped at 50. Seriously, 25's nothing compared to 50 imo.
Agression in small pots becomes verrry important, if you get it wrong, your red line will make your blue one plummet. I'm working on this atm, alternating between 25-50. Anddd as you know, I have already sent you a PM haha.

Just my humble opinion.

Re: Need help progressing from 10NL to 25NL

First of all get holdem manager/pokertracker. Second get a good hud. I simpathize with you so if you send me a pm i'd send you my hud which has over 40 stats and is very complete for micros.

After that my advise would be to cut the number of tables for a while so you can focus more on your game and dont play like a robot ( you are probably a nit if you 24 table) and look for leaks, specially in co/btn/sb/bb. Sharing your stats here after you have played 5k hands+ w holdem manager would help too.
