Was I right to be sus on flop and turn? Was I right to be sus on flop and turn?

So, apart from the massively awful attempt at a bluff here, does my calling down make sense in this hand. Just from the texture of the board I had to wonder what this guy could possibly be calling down with, it seemed to miss his range quite a bit. I mean, is over cards firing twice into this?

Hero (UTG+1): $5.15
MP1: $5.00
MP2: $5.29
CO: $5.07
BTN: $6.08
SB: $5.68
BB: $5.22
UTG: $5.00

Pre Flop: ($0.07) Hero is UTG+1 with J T
UTG raises to $0.15, Hero calls $0.15, 6 folds

Flop: ($0.37) Q 9 2 (2 players)
UTG bets $0.23, Hero calls $0.23

Turn: ($0.83) 5 (2 players)
UTG bets $0.53, Hero calls $0.53

River: ($1.89) 3 (2 players)
UTG bets $1.70, Hero raises to $4.24 all in, UTG calls $2.39 all in

Overcards with a flushdraw might fire twice, just overs probably won't. Most people don't really cbet multiple streets as a bluff, unless they have a strong draw.

I think call flop is fine, turn is a bit meh because we don't have a great draw, 2 of our 8 outs for a nutted hand also put a nuttier hand out there. But maybe he does have a fd or just a tp type hand and we can take it away on the river.

River raise here is awful vs that sizing. If he made it 80 cent or so you can definitely try it because that seems like a bet-fold sizing. Here he bets almost pot and is never folding with any of his value hands and a 3 street bluff with this type of sizing seems highly unlikely. In general though, don't try to bluff in spots like this at these stakes because there's better spots to win money and most people hate to fold.

All in with J high?? Or am I missing something. Why the call at the end?

I shoved at the end as a bluff bro,

Ronin thanks, that's really helpful. Higher stakes is making me get critical on my game again, it's good!

No stats it's hard to say. If you want to get fancy raise/fold flop folds more of his range that is ahead of you and probably gets you a free turn. Pre I would be folding to an UTG raise unless i'm otb or co.

Otr an unknowns range pretty much must be ahead of you unless you put him on exactly JT or complete air, which is unlikely given your hand and the fact he is UTG. AKdd wouldn't surprise me. Seems like he turned up his betsize otr and that generally means value time at these limits in my experience.

thanks mate,
my take aways are this:
raise/fold flop, which narrows at best, but someone betting against unknown (me) from UTG on the turn after that leaves me behind pretty much always.
Interesting note: at the stakes a big bet like that is for value.

awesome
