Hold'em No Limit ($0.25/$0.50) - 2008-12-30 01:36:39
44/9/1.1 ~ 72 hands - 4 handed
Seat 1: Hero ($52.05)
Seat 3: Villain ($65.57)
------------------------------
Hero is dealt [AK] and raises to $1.75 folds to Villain who raises to $5.50, Hero calls $3.75

Flop ($11.75) - 9TA

Now here was my thought process: I elected not to re-pop preflop because I saw villain shove over the top of a 4-bet once before, and I'm too deep to be put in that spot.

Now on the flop, I was seriously considering a check but I'm not sure if it's correct. If he has AQs or a hand like that, he's going to be betting it anyway, and I'd simply be throwing him rope...and if he has a hand like QQ or JJ, there's also a chance he's betting in a spot where he could more than likely fold if I led out.

is checking or betting the right play here? And how could I get more than one bet called on this board?

You aren't too deep to get it in at all, it's just 100bb. The HH is confusing, but since it's 4 handed, you opened and it folded to villain, meaning that someone folded in between you two, he had to have 3bet you from the blinds, meaning that he had to have acted first, but you don't say he did all you say is that your considering a check. Or were you in fact wrong about it "folding to villain". Whatever the case, if you are first to act, check with the intention of raising. If you are 2nd to act and villain checks, bet, if you are 2nd to act and villain bets, raise. K?
