I have used both programs, and after using PT4 for a while now it has actually become my preferred software. I needed a lot of time to get used to it as it's imo a lot less user friendly than HM2. HM2 is a lot quicker, so having to set up tons of filters to find your way around in PT4 was really a drag, but once you learn it it becomes pretty easy to use.

The fact that you can just look at the imported hands without having to see session results if you want to watch your hand count, review hands, etc without having to see results has to be one of the things I like the most, it always tilted me that I couldn't see any info of my session without having to see my results. It's also a lot easier to mark hands while playing as well.

This might also be possible in HM2, but I really like you can have multiple DB's as PT4 it can be really slow when setting up filters if you have a lot of hands in your DB.

Little bit biased because I didnt give pt4 much of a chance, but with an SSD I think hm2 is infinitely better. Everything you just mentioned hm2 does too with little to no effort.

edit: with that being said, hm1 > all

The only thing PT4 really lacks at imo is the possibility to go in and watch old hands, if you run filters. HM2 is miles ahead there. It's also slightly slower than HM2.

The main reason I will chose PT4 any day is the HUD. It's super easy to build, color code etc. also that you can chose it to only show "when under mouse" is really nice if you like me have 8 lines in your HUD which would be very distracting for me personally if it had to be shown at all time. Last time I used HM2 I couldn't even build a HUD with the stats I wanted.

Both HM2 and PT4 does the job, they are both really good for analysing stats, running filters, etc. so in the end I really think it comes down to what you prefer.

    How's this different from using HEM2 pop-ups?

I just have a 2 line hud. (Name/hands. // VPIP/PFR/Ag/Ftcbet/Ft3bet) everything else is in pop ups that come up when I put my mouse over a stat.

I guess it's pretty similar. I haven't used HM2 in a while, so I don't remember exactly how it works, I just seem to remember having some trouble with those automatic pop ups now that you mention it (I have generally have a lot of trouble with HM2's HUD). I think PT4's version of it is slightly better as you set it up like your normal HUD but it's just see through until you put the mouse over it.

As said, I think the variety of stats in PT4 is a good bit better, but the display and design of your HUD, pop ups, etc. really comes down to personal preference.

    7x8 lines hud = 56 stats,playing stacked..also all default popups plus 4 custom made..still almost a breakeven player lol

Because 50 of those stats will be mostly irrelevant and you waste focus on them probably?

    This poker lark is easy.

Think ive only opened Stars once this month ... sat down today and decided to play 2 $7 Sit & Goes.

Landed on a $42 and $28 table and took me 8 minutes to take home all the moolah.

Another profitable month .. see you in March !
