Hi guys, quick question here. How would you have played this hand differently? Looking at it now, I realized that mathmatically I shouldn't have been calling the 1/3 bets in terms of hoping for the straight, but should I have folded after the small bet? Even if I hit a king I wouldn't have had top pair. Maybe raise into him trying to induce a fold or just get out of the hand entirely? Thanks for your help!

Just bet the flop as a bluff. You want him to fold stuff like 22 and you block AK, AJ, KQ and QJ. If you're called and you don't turn a straight, just check and fold to a bet.

Checking away the lead on that flop is not a good idea. That flop hits your range also hits villains range. You need to bet here for information. Your not really getting the odds to check call the turn and you could be drawing dead. The river bet doesn't make much sense your essentialy turning your hand face up, what worse hands are calling your shove? And what better hands will fold?

Bet flop, or check raise flop at least. Check fold turn and check fold river imfo(in my fish opinion).

We obviously shouldn't c/f river...

OP, no you didn't have the odds. There's a chance that villain has a boat or your card will make him a boat, there's a chance that you hit the Th and lose, and last but not least, if you hit and get that much money in that there was implied odds on the turn, you'll never showdown the winner.

Literal odds:
ott you're getting 3:1
in my rusty memory I believe it's 11.5:1 to make a gutshot otr.
so you have to make up 52bb otr to make this a breakeven call ott. 11.5-3=8.5*6bb=52bb. I'm not very scientific putting it in formulas like others but that gets the job done.
