Good post Splt, well done as always.
I dont know why but playing 21/17 is better/easier/more confortable for me than 13/11...

Who cares what it's called? And you can still make really good money as a TAG, think about it. If LAGs make good money by exploiting nits who fold too much, how would a TAG make good money other than nut pedaling and hitting big?

I know but TAG is just standard reg style these days at FR...I always try not to be standard.

Re: COTW: Becoming A LAG

Hey split,

Just to make myself clear, I'm not asking for coaching or sweat session or anything of the like, I honestly just want to get hands with u, if u ever feel like it - just pm me and I'll sit in even on like 1 table with u. I play 50nl on stars and I'm pretty much a beginner at that level (only 10k hands lifetime).

What's in it for you? nothing really, take it as a compliment from someone that has high respect for your game/posts/gameplay-seen-on-vid who thinks it would be a fun experience to share a table with u

Re: COTW: Becoming A LAG

It might not be whether LAG or TAG or NIT is the best style, per se, but what fits a given situation. I'm reminded of that Gus Hansen commercial where he is wearing the outfits of other known pros. He's talking about how he always likes to mix it up. My style tends to be a little on the laggy side, which works well on weekday night deep tables since everyone's an easy to read nit. But on weekends, I get killed since I don't adjust as I should. I should be more taggy or just a downright nit those days. And I imagine as you move up and people are reading you better, it's not just about a style for a given table or a given day, but you need to be making adjustments on the fly in order to prevent your opponents from ranging you.

A good poker player should be proficient at all styles of play and be able to identify when to employ these strategies and then to execute them correctly.

Re: COTW: Becoming A LAG

Great post.

Somebody should have clarified the table selection for LAGs in the COTW. When I started LAGging, I made a lot of money right away and surprisingly I found 25NL easier than 5 or 10. Then I read that COTW on selecting loose tables and starting tables.... It cost me like half of the bankroll.....

On a different note: sometimes you can't/do not want to leave the table which is not good for lagging. It can be a live game, there could be a reg at the table you want to beat, or your nature could be such that you feel it is must to teach these 3-ballers a lesson (spoken from experience). You need to change gears. What are the key adjustments you would recommend if you want to impose your play to the table?
