Great posts, if you guys want/need a COTW on some neglected subjects like manipulating Baluga's Theorum and perceived range for Turn Semi-bluffing send me a PM.

Re: ****Concept of the Week" Schedule and Table of Contents****

hm, i know i am fairly new to poker ( started in september with NL5, now playing NL25 moderately successfull), but as i took a lot out of here maybe i can also contribute.

would a cotw eg "how 2 start to learn poker" make sense? i dont mean explaning all the basics (cards, propabilities, ranges, ...) but rather how to approach the topic "learning poker"

i know when i started, i know i had a lot to learn, but it was so much, that i just didnt know where to start. i could also explain some of the problems you will encouter, what helped me in improving, ....

alltough i am not sure if the people here dont really already have that knowledge. that would really be a complete newbie guide. of course, i would kindly as one of the pohh-pahs to give me a little help, dont want to write garbage

Re: ****Concept of the Week" Schedule and Table of Contents****

as find myself getting into this topic currently; what about a concept and "planning a hand"?

i often read in the HH review "you need to have a plan for your hand", but haven't really found anything that help me developing one. i dont mean standardplans for situations, but rather my thought process i need to have when developing the plan.

or did i miss a cotw or pooh-bah post?

Re: ****Concept of the Week" Schedule and Table of Contents****

Did a bit of brain-storming there for some new ideas that somebody with more expertise could possibly develop:

Getting the most from your poker site
This would break down and explain the loyalty programmes of the various site. I think the sites deliberately make these things quite complex so if somebody could boil down Pokerstars VIP and Full Tilt's Ironman/rakeback and compare them for people playing at different levels and different volumes.
Also the best use of the points that people earn-ie is it better to buy gift items in the shops, purchase cash bonuses, enter tournaments, use the concierge service etc
This could easily be expanded to cover sign-up bonus's and thus bonus whoring as well as the pros and cons of playing on smaller sites.
The topic could also cover things like table skins and getting the most out of all the options available (4 colour deck, coloured labels etc)

The Art of Multi-tabling
This would probably be a fairly simplistic 'how to' guide on ramping up the number of tables that you play. This should introduce Table Ninja and AHK scripts and discuss the pros and cons of mass multi-tabling. This could be broadened further by discussing the arrangement of tables on screen as well as your 'working area' layout-ie discussion of numbers/size/resolution of monitors. I think it's been covered already but ergonomics could also be touched on here to beef it up a bit.

Playing short-handed and HU
There's already been a CotW on starting tables but that was more of a 'how to' guide as opposed to a strategy guide. The focus of this article would be more on the adjustments needed to play vs 1, 3 or 5 opponents. My experience of this is that people either loosen up too much or don't adjust their range at all. Naturally the scope of this topic is too much to be covered in a single CotW so this would be more of 'A Rough Guide To...'.

Limped Pots
When you're playing 10nl and below these are extremely common and you can find yourself in some very interesting/tough situations usually when you're in the big blind. The combination of being out of position, in a multi-way pot versus a very wide combined range doesn't come up often so perhaps a guide here could focus on some simple do's and don'ts. There's definitely a slant in the CotWs toward the higher end of the micros (3betting, double barrelling, thin value etc)-this would be something aimed more for the people at the lower end.

Home Games
THere's already been two CotW dealing with live games but I think they were gearded more toward casino play. This would be meant more as a guide on informal home games. It could focus on running a game, promoting it and also the best strategy to use to beat it

Reg-wars
This is a fairly broad based topic but it essentially would cover the meta-game aspect of continuously playing versus people at your limit who you know to be decent thinking players. I've read a lot of times where people say something like 'I knew he was 2+2 so I did this'. This is what could be expanded upon. The various levels of thinking (first, second etc) could be discussed as well as things like discovering and exploiting known tendencies and changing gears. There was also a CotW on inducing tilt with chat which unfortunately was never written but I think that it could find a home as a subsection of this.

Suited Connectors/One Gappers
This would be a guide on playing these hands much like this weeks CotW on small pocket pairs.

there is hugely old archive post about suited connectors - it doesnt tell you how to play but about implied odds & math:

if you know it already, ignore my posting; it of course does not substitute a cotw

i love this idea; this would help especially NL25+ players.

there is a lot of information "what fish are there and how to exploit them" of course its fun, i really just looove aggrodonks. but when i read about evolving and moving its always written "up to NL25 you can want to avoid the regs and play against the fish, from NL50 you want to play against the regs, the bad ones and exploit them".

an here i am struggeling, what is even ment by that? exploiting other TAG regs by bluffing horrible boards? do i still want to exploit the non TAG regs (setmining nitties, passive, ....) and avoid the tag ones? just some questions in my mind.

thank thank thank you for finding this for me. I've been looking for this exact thread when looking at my leaks with SCs and suited gappers.

But yea, a CotW about actually playing them would be nice

Re: ****Concept of the Week" Schedule and Table of Contents****

SilentNoise, who was scheduled for "Computer Security," this week, has asked to be moved to next week. So I am going to do a thread this week on playing KK, as we have been discussing it in the FT regs thread anyway.

I should have it up by 4:00 p.m. eastern today.

Re: ****Concept of the Week" Schedule and Table of Contents****

Maybe there should be a COTW about what HUD stats to pick and how to get reads from different stats, accompanied by a brief explanation for the more difficult stats like AF etc.

I think a lot of uNL players (including me) don't use their HUD's optimally.

I've been thinking about this topic for several months now. I talk myself into including it, then talk myself back out. Although I have been thinking more in terms of blind v. blind more generally.

I'd like to hear some thoughts from other people.

I'll get the AF/Afq part; I know we disagree on their utility and we can have a nice mod war (which I will win because I am right about AF and you, sir, are a hud fish).
