How about a COTW and discussion on 'should I bet/fold this river card or check/call'?

It seems to be a common question.

I'm not saying these new cotws are inapplicable at low stakes, but new players can easily misinterpret the info given here and misapply it. I mean 3 betting light vs a steal and playing oop is a topic which shouldn't really be a common situation until 25nl really at the earliest. Ofc it's good to have this knowledge at 2nl, but it's not really going to be the best use of a new player's time. I mean the cotw is too good an idea to let go to waste, but we need to think of ways to expand upon it otherwise we will just end up going around in circles.
grunch most of the rest of this thread.....

So many awesome topics now exist in the table of contents, and the topics appear to be so varied in terms of their level of specificity to the game, I would find great use of some priority list of the topics for the benefit of a new/neophyte player trying to learn how to play the game. In other words, what topics should be read before others to learn more about the fundamentals of the game from the CoTWs? I am guessing at which to read first and reading them, but the good threads take a long time to read, and I would rather do it more efficiently if I can.

So, any experienced advice?

DOH! I just noticed that what I asked for had been done as a digest of 2009 CoTW threads. And a very nice job of it too, Mr. mpethy! Perhaps a second edition of that digest might be forthcoming with updates based on the 2010 CoTW threads?

Thanks to all who put so much time into developing this information.

kinda tricky that -- having "redline" in the CotW title. Kind of like a double Greenland/Iceland leveling.

How about a cotw on playing weak ranges in position? I'm thinking of the button and cutoff.

Obviously this could include a whole load of concepts which have already been covered such as Barreling and Showdown Value but I'm thinking of spots where we really use our position to pile on the pressure. I've been going over my own play in these spots and I think too often I use my position in a defensive manner (to take free cards, check down with sd value, control the pot size etc) and not enough in an aggresive manner.

we have some pretty aggro games these days, and c-betting nearly everything on any board is almost standard. i think a cotw on checking as the pfr would be interesting.

I originally said to write me in for Feb 14, for "Playing AA". I've done a decent amount of work on it so far. I could finish it up for Monday, but would be happier bumping mine back. A few weeks ago when there was confusion over scheduling SammyG's COTW on Rush, I offered to bump mine back.

I won't bail on mine to throw a burden on someone else to get theirs done.

But, I would happily move mine back if SammyG, Coinflip, or anyone else wanted to get their's in this week.

There's a few COTW's in the table of contents that aren't links.

25 Jan 10: Applying Baluga Theorem; breathweapon
05 Apr 10: Re-Stealing; Vanguard
19 Apr 10: Using the Overbet; DukeMuscle
28 Sep 09: Releasing Your Inner LAg; Alex23

I was most interested in reading Using the Overbet.

I tried searching for all of these, and couldn't find any of them. Am I right in assuming these four never happened?
