What kind of range do you put villain on? I dont really think he has any straight combos, likely sets/twopair and made flushes. A good percentage of the time he probably GII on the flop w sets. Are there too many flushes here for this to be a profitable call? There def could be some A8 in his range too. Just not sure he sticks it in with that, although, me checking back the turn may eliminate some FD in his mind and may think I have a range of like AK, overpairs etc and could def be shoving for thin value. The more I think about it, the more I like the call.

Thanks!

Given villain stats one presumes he's 3betting his premiums and also not cold calling a crazy wide range of suited 7 gapers. So since the Ah is the flush card that takes out a lot of flush combos. If he expects you to bet your flushes on the turn and check back spiked Ax etc he may be ripping worse for value...but is he really donking then just flatting your raise w/ a set OTF? That's the crux of it, and how much A8o does he really have there? Probably just A8s, so maybe maybe 3 combos of A8s that would take this line. Rest is KQs, KJs, QJs, QTs, JTs, 9Ts for at least 6 flushes who think you ripped strong on the flop and weak on the turn who are just shoving bc they can and hope you call w/ a set...I'm pretty guilty of calling off to wide in spots like these and would seriously consider it in game but I think it's a fold - with one exception. There are a few breeds of fish that will just pot donk or over bet OOP vs weak turn action from IR on obvious scare cards and they bluff with an astounding frequency...the same players would also maybe bet smaller for value. If you have that read snap it off.

think its just a fold thinking further on it. When I flop raise, it looks like I have a set/overpair/twopair alot checking back the turn when the flush comes in/A. when he shoves he probably has tons of FD, and probably only a few worse. Shove prob leads to a fold for us, and we can call any smaller bet and feel ok about it. I think him not coming over the top on the flop eliminates 95% of possible sets/non drawing monster hands, so when he flats, he doesnt want to get it it atm, which means a draw

Why are you even raising flop? To protect from draws cause it sounded like a good idea back in 2005?

thought about it this way and I think a good way of looking at it is this:

If I was flop raising w a hand like 88 here vs a lead and got called and had a Ah peel off, my most likely line would probably be either to bet/fold vs a passive player or check back occasionally trying to get there. So, when we bink the river, I think a good way to view it is, "If i raised a set on flop, checked back turn on FD card, and opponent lead shoves on blank riv, I Would fold" so I think we can probably lay this hand down
