$0.02 NL - Holdem - 8 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

UTG: 559.5 BB (VPIP: 18.87, PFR: 15.09, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 53)
UTG+1: 58.5 BB (VPIP: 0.00, PFR: 0.00, 3Bet Preflop: -, Hands: 1)
MP: 70 BB (VPIP: 0.00, PFR: 0.00, 3Bet Preflop: -, Hands: 1)
MP+1: 100 BB (VPIP: 15.79, PFR: 10.53, 3Bet Preflop: 8.00, Hands: 78)
CO: 152.5 BB (VPIP: 25.00, PFR: 0.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 8)
BTN: 24.5 BB (VPIP: 100.00, PFR: 0.00, 3Bet Preflop: -, Hands: 1)
Hero (SB): 42 BB
BB: 83.5 BB (VPIP: 100.00, PFR: 0.00, 3Bet Preflop: -, Hands: 1)

I know all too well about the need to top up to 100bb but bankroll is quite short at the moment and so I buy in for minimum to minimize my risk of ruin.

Hero posts SB 0.5 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.5 BB) Hero has T T

fold, UTG+1 raises to 2.5 BB, fold, fold, fold, fold, Hero calls 2 BB, fold

Flop: (6 BB, 2 players) 7 Q 6
Hero checks, UTG+1 checks

Turn: (6 BB, 2 players) 2
Hero bets 4 BB, UTG+1 calls 4 BB

River: (14 BB, 2 players) 5
Hero bets 4 BB, UTG+1 raises to 10 BB, fold

UTG+1 wins 21 BB

Thoughts about my line? Preflop I'd rather not 3b and face folding out worse hands and possibly get 4b. On flop I check intending to c/c. Turn completes flush and I bet to get value/charge draws. River is another thin value bet and once I get raised I don't beat much so I fold.

If you're playing short stacked you can't afford to get involved in marginal spots. Your objective is to wait for big cards and drive them hard. If you want more room to play poker, deposit more and play full stacked.

That makes sense. Let's just say then I had a 100bb stack. Is my line the most exploitative against 2nl population tendencies or should I have played it another way

i'll call river raise.

villain is not really repping much.

most of the time expect him to have something like broadways with one big club or 55.

if he played a queen or overpair weirdly then so be it. u cant be scared of ghosts when playing poker.

u made such a weak river bet which will often induce bluff raises

there are 28BB in pot u need only 6 BB to call. I m snap calling here

Yeah, agreed that with that small bet and small raise I don't think I can fold here.

(Though villain knows you can't fold for such a small bet, but he knows you knows he knows! LEVEL 20 THINKING!)

I agree this is a bluff often enough to make this worthwhile (and otherwise a small price to know which kind of hands he plays like this ).

In doubt about c/c or b/f (if proper raise, now call) river. His range is medium pairs which might call a smaller river bet, but also club draws which might bluff the river. If betting I bet a bit more though, bout half pot I;d say.

Then there's also the occasional QJ/JJ which also beat us but prolly check behind on the river...
