50nl FR, Can't Win If You Fold Edition

Villain and 3rd guy were playing HU when I sat in as 3rd. Villain is some random nitreg got him as 13/8 over 83 hands most of that probably from FR though I don't think I have it filtered for by # of players. Does this look ok?

Merge Network $0.25/$0.50 No Limit Hold'em - 3 players

BB: $84.25
BTN: $35.30
Hero (SB): $49.60

Pre Flop: ($0.75) Hero is SB with 4 8
1 fold, Hero raises to $1.50, BB calls $1

Flop: ($3.00) K 8 T (2 players)
Hero bets $2.00, BB calls $2

Turn: ($7.00) 6 (2 players)
Hero checks, BB bets $4.00, Hero raises to $14.50, BB calls $10.50

River: ($36.00) 9 (2 players)
Hero bets $31.60 all in

If I check I get to see how big his turn bet is though. That factored a lot into my decision to raise rather than just fold and give up.

i mean the fact that he didn't raise the flop means he either has 1 pear or draw or float, so no reason to really check to induce since you already kinda know he probably doesn't want to play for stacks

Agree with arb at least on the first part that bet bet bet is more believable... I do think people are capable of waiting a street to raise these days (but maybe that's me projecting).

eh completely disagree. Lots of people flat IP with strong hands in this spot. Maybe if he were oop you'd have a point.

Also my line gets the most money vs. his marginal hands and has to work less often than the overbet.

But what happens with his check back call range of weak kings, tens, AXs with showdown.

Other words, you need to be confident that he bets his mediocre hands on the turn and signals it with a small bet, while betting the turn will provide the same EV since the villain will either fold the turn or call turn fold river with his weak range, but likely raise turn with a significant portion of his strong range so you lose less against his strong range (assuming he doesn't flat his strong range over two streets which he should some % but less than flop).

Why go you think he bets his marginal hands on the turn?
