Hey there,

I'd like to get some insight on this hand from you

Do you think that's just a bad beat or perhaps I could've folded or played the hand any different. The only hand that made sense for him to have is AA but how can I foold set Kings at 2NL fish tables

Or perhaps I'm still a fish?

Anyway, tell me what you think.

Why are you playing so passively?

Flatting the raise pre then flatting sqz by btn? 3b yourself and gii pre. We are never folding. It's a cooler.

Yeah, first time I called because the raiser had just 90 cents behind. I just decided to try something else slow play it with him. Then after the big 3 bet figured maybe I'm up against aces. So let's see the flop first. I had mixed feelings about that flop and he betting so aggresively on flop, turn and river. The only hand that made sense to me that he has is AA or maybe AK. (QQ JJ wouldn't bet flop and turn I assume, and he 3-bet so big preflop so it looked like a big pair) And I was even considering folding on the turn and river but with the pot ods and my hand strength I couldnt

You're going to lose value with KK trying to pick out the times you're up against AA, especially at the micros and especially at 2nl. People can turn up with all sorts of junk here unless you have the stats to prove that they're a rock.

Slow playing big hands at 2nl is almost always a mistake. Players at these stakes call way too much and seldom bet/raise themselves, you can't rely on them to build pots for you. Exploit them by value betting your strong hands

Good luck

Seems like bad luck, you ran into the top of his range.
Preflop you could re-raise his bet.
You should bet/shove on the flop.

Would you ever fold KK preflop at 2NL ? What about 10NL?

lol, not 100bb deep.

I "may" find a fold 200 bb deep against an uber nit though.

I would 4bet pre and GII unless this guy is an incredibly massive nit.

When you flop your set here, you should raise at some point to get stacks in IMO, especially as you are OOP. In this hand history, you can't fold and you shouldn't want to, you need to focus on getting paid with your monster.

This is not a bad beat BTW, this is a cooler.

Thanks WereBeer and everyone for the advice. It's been very helpful!

Yes cooler, my bad I recently got started back in poker and am beating the 2NL level easily but I'm looking to improve my game and move up in the stakes so i will be posting hands from time to time. I've no poker buddies to discuss hands with so glad to have you here as my poker buddies and hear from some of the more experienced players than me. I'm looking to learn and improve so I appreciate any advice.

Thanks again

Answer to the topic, it's bad play.
You can justify your initial flat, but you really should reraise after getting raised by the BTN.

Yeah you're right. Is it always wrong to flat 3-bet with KK? Do you re-raise everytime or is there any situation where you'd just call and if yes what would that be? I was out of position in this case. Perhaps if in position I can just call or you'd still prefer to re-raise? And why? Thanks

It's not always wrong to flat a 3bet. There are situations where flatting is a good play. Example, you open UTG with KK and a nit 3bet you, you can flat and keep his range wide. Or you open with KK and someone in the blinds 3bet you, you can flat with position and let him hang himself.

In your OP, you flatted the original raiser, so you under-repped your hand. This is a good time to back-raise.

I see. Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. Will keep it in mind next time I'm in similar situation. Thanks
