$0.02NLH Trip 5s betting line - wondering if my initial check is wrong pre-flop; felt could induce action and did go that way into flop but was it the right play before the T and R?

That's fine bc it's multiway and your check looks like a missed hand. Heads-up I'd go ahead and CB.

Why do you open 4.5x (0.09) ? I don't like this for two reasons:
1. If you face a 3bet from someone who does not 3bet that much, you will have to fold and you lose 4.5 blinds instead or 3 blinds. Also the 3bet you'll face will be bigger as you opened more then 3x so probably you'll get a 3bet somewhere at at least 0.27 which makes it harder to call even if you wish to go for set-mining.
2. If you raise 4.5x with small pairs and 3x with top pairs or ATs+ others can take notes of that and you'll be exploitable. I suggest to keep the same raise (3x) with all your open range regardless of the strength of the hand .. doing so no one will be able to read you. Or if you decide to keep this raises .. you'll have to balance and raise the same sometime with marginal hands or top range as well.

Thank very much great pointers. Not at all disregarding but i think my higher amounts were to isolate the fish BT opponent and it worked in that regard.

I do find myself betting higher in ep or mp in such scenarios. But should have given lowdown on the opponent stats-had good hm2 stats on them.

Inducing action with 55 oop? if you had AA, AK, KK 4.5 BB bet against such opponent who would call sure. 3x is standard bet size here preflop.

with 55 im folding unless opponents are calling/passive. then i might make a call preflop to see a cheap flop.

Your initial check is good though I think you'll find it to be more profitable calling the bet.

That said, mixing in some check raises on safe rainbow boards with a set isn't a bad play at all. The thing I would tweak is your raise size since it seems on the large side.

You could probably expect the villain not to have AA - JJ because he probably would have raised those hands preflop since MP+2 called after you raised preflop, so the villain's range is looking like top pair or a draw at best.

Raising the villain 3-4x is much more reasonable than raising 5x and overall more people will be calling.

As played even check call and let villain spew off... no reason to show strength on that dry flop.

Kind of surprised that everybody likes the check.

I mean, maybe it is ok against a fish, helping you get more money in sooner against someone not folding but not raising.

But in general, I don't like it. I think I would continue just about every non set I would open here, wouldn't you? I mean, unless one of the players behind never folds (and if that is the case, you don't need to trap the monster anyway).

So checking looks super suspicious. And check raising is wearing a "I flopped a set" sign around your neck.

What is worse, if you are playing people regularly, not only will those traps start to get less action, but good players can play better against you when you DO continue on these boards, because you'll be "capped" at a single pair.
