Recommendation for studying habits? Recommendation for studying habits?

Always looking for ways to improve my game. Cash grinder planning on switching from 10NL to either 25nl or 50nl. Of course, my studying habits are always something I can look to improve. My current method of study is going back over hands I played and trying to decide if it was a +EV move. This usually involves calculating my hand vs range equity, considering hands based on bets going on each street, and comparing it to other choices (ex: folding, raising, 3betting, etc). My main approach has been to analyze my games from a theoretical GTO perspective.

What do you guys to do to study? And what recommendations do you have for how I can continue to improve my games?

  • Review your sessions (which you're already doing)
  • Periodically review the regs at your limit who you have the most hands with. Look at all of the hands that they show-down. Try and work out their defualt lines. Do they tend to play straight-up in 3bet pots? Do they c-bet flop too much whilst cbetting turn too little? Look for leaks that you can exploit.
  • Post any hands that you were unsure about to get other people's opinions
  • Give your opinion on the hands others post. Sometimes just explaining a concept in your own words givesw you greater insights into it or exposes holes in your own understanding of a concept
  • Check out the multitude of training videos on youtube.
  • Do a sweat session with another player

It's where you play while another person watches you and gives you advice. So you could do it over skype and cast your screen so that they can observe you. You talk your way through your decisions and they discuss it with you.

Alternatives to this are you sending them your hand history of a session (or sending them a recording of a video) and them reviewing the hands and discussing them with you either in real-time or via e-mails.

I've never been involved with a sweat session but I'd imagine both parties can get plenty out of it.

Yeah HH reviews

Database query questions. Anything from do I make money on river call downs to are my but cbets getting through enough.

Currently reading about study techniques and trying to utilise them. Which has shown me to be a bad studier! I'm far too passive. So now I'm re going through all the fundamentals of my game, sorting out study material (chapters, video and going through my database and forums) and being s very active learner. Believe me there's some book chapters I've read multiple times in the past and I've learned new mind blowing ideas. Pretty shameful really!
