So I primarily play 1/2 & 2/5 live right now in my life. I want to improve my live game so I've come to the dark side, I threw 25$ on Stars (I'm from Canada) I've bought Hold'em Manager and plan to grind 2NL -> 5NL ect, I know it will take awhile and my actual plan is to just learn and finesse my game.

Present questions, are where can I learn things like when to raise w/ KQs or JTs or 66, QTs , ATs when should I be calling with KJs? how about QJo or AJs I am a slightly winning player in live (I keep my own records daily win or lose) and I just feel like it's my positioning that I'm having a lot of troubles with, I would say I'm a tight player with a reasonable range, I'll play a lot of suited connectors, 88+ I raise in any position. (which I want to stop, I want to know when I should be flatting in MP, want to know when I should be raising in MP and the finest details)

The 1/2 game I play here, plays like a 2/5 game, 20$ preflop with 3+ in is very common. The 2/5 game usually players have between 4K & 10K in front of them at any time. I've seen 15k+ cash outs on the regular. It's a DC game, it recently went from NLDC to PLDC (for omaha)

Hi. Those questions that you're asking are simple sounding but have very complex answers. For example the "when to call with XY hand?" depends on:
  • The opener's position
  • Your position
  • Who is to act behind you
  • opener's suspected range
  • How opener reacts to 3bets
  • How opener plays post-flop
  • How opener perceives you and your range
  • How deep the smaller of your stacks are
  • Your cards

All of these are addressed at various times in the amazing Concept of The Weeks Thread that people posted many years ago on this forum. They may be dated but the fundamentals in them are still very much valid. Here's a link. I'd recommend going to the 2009 and 2010 ones as the quality of them was particularly high there.

After that post some hands that gave you difficulty during your sessions and people will give you advice on how they would have played the hand.

I will definitely take a look later today, someone else recommended that aswell! this would be one example of a hand I struggle with a lot, I don't have a a ton of info on people from Stars or anywhere, I've played about 400 hands since I loaded up Hold'em manager earlier today.

Preflop is fine. At 2nl I'd open pots for 8c + add 2c for each limper before you.

On the flop bet way more. The biggest leak people have at 2nl is that they call way too much. I think with an overpaid or top pair top kicker you can safely bet anywhere from 80%-100% of the pot for value. Don't worry about folding people out. If they do fold to these bets they probably missed the flop completely and you weren't going to win much off of them anyway. On this particular flop you can get calls from anyone holding a pair, flush draws, straight draws and even random Ace, King or two Broadway hands who are hoping to hit on the turn. Basically you want to get value from all of these hands. So I'd go ahead and bet 25c here.

As played bet more on the turn. You're still getting value from all of the pairs, flush draws and straight draws. By betting such a small amount you're essentially saying one of two things. (1) I missed the flop and my c-bet didn't work or (2) I'm scared of that turn card. ( there's also (3) That turn card made me a monster hand and now I'm slowplaying but this doesn't happen as much as people fear that it does). So yeah the villain sees weakness and could be betting big here just to push you off. That's not to say he's bluffing mind you. In fact I'd probably fold here unless you've seen him do similar stuff with weak holdings already.

Anyways the main takeaway here is to bet way more for value when your hand is more than likely the best.

That's fair, taking the pot down or making him pay to continue makes a lot more sense with a huge overpair. I appreciate the feedback.
