How Viable is 5bet Bluffing?

This is not strictly a low stakes question, it's more of a theory question. I know some people advocate 5bet bluffing and some don't. Personally, I like 5bet bluffing but it can really destroy your profit margins with particular hands when it goes poorly, so I'm unsure at the moment.

In a cash game? I don't know. I'm sure you're right, there will be a few that advocate it.
What I can say for certain is that in the micros... Nope.
I think you could make a case for it if you had a ton of history with the villain. But it definitely would be a mid-highstakes move. I'm pretty sure at live $2/$5 and below or nl50 and below, you're gonna get snapped off by JJ+ or AQs+.
Clearly, that's not going to be every time. That's the question isn't it? How often is often enough to be -ev?
Bottom line for me is that it would depend a lot on villain and stack sizes. Getting looked up on a 5! would take a lot of folds to make up for it, imo.

At the microstakes, 5bet bluffing is not very profitable imo because people won't 4bet/fold very often. When a villain is clearly 4betting too wide, I prefer 5betting with a merged range because he will probably call anyways. In some spots like blinds vs. BU/CO, I want to add more pocket pairs and big aces in my 5! Shoving range if my opponent is very agressive. By playing like this, I play less medium-strenght hands out of position, which is very hard.
