Calling river with middle pair

The villain is a tag. Havnt seen villain do anything out of line in the past 50 hands

When the flop goes check check and then the villain bets a blank turn I though it was a bit strange. A2 doesn't seem likely from this villain, could there be some Q's that went for pot control in his range too?
Should I consider folding turn?

There is a lot of draws out there too
On the river all the draws miss. Should I be calling here?
I think I have close to the top of my range here

Re: Calling river with middle pair

Turn should be always a call here. River seems like a thin value bet by the villain and i would fold in this spot. If he would bet around 2-2.5$ on the river i would consider a call.

Also i have found that making these kind of thin value bet bluffs against a thinking regs that know our game is quite profitable at some spots.

As BU I would take this line with KJ, JT, so easy call yes

("Top of my range" is not an argument up to NL200+)

I call, especially given the price you're getting. Not to mention he could be value betting worse.

You can fold up to about 37% of your range on the river. Above that, you are obligated to call or you'll be expolitable to bluffing. The question is if AJ is in the bottom 37% of your range on the river. I would say that it is not in the bottom 37% of your range and therefore I would call this river bet.

Re: Calling river with middle pair

After checking the flop and turn this is probably the best hand you could have in this spot. Given that our opponent could be value betting worse hands like KJ I like to call down here. His stronger hand like KQ that flat our 3-bet pre would have bet flop so given that we beat some of his value, and then there are his bluffs (clubs,T9...), seems pretty straight forward to me.

Re: Calling river with middle pair

Easy call.

Hard to see why top pair or top 2 pair would not bet the flop on a board that wet. Actually, it's hard to see why you didn't bet with middle pair in that spot: his range is dominated by drawing hands that are behind to you at that point. If you're not prepared to bet that flop, then trying to defend the blinds with AJ is not a good idea in the first place.

My guess would be he has a smaller PP and is looking to extract thin value from your perceived busted draw. I can't see anybody trying to value bet bluff a busted draw that thin in the micros, since most players would call that bet incredibly light. The only hand you really have to worry about is 66, with him spiking a full house on the river. Just chalk that one up to variance when it happens.

Pretty sure you are no where near the top of your range. But okay.
