Re: Prop bet: Take up smoking a pack a day for 30 days, and QUIT
OK this is ridiculous for one reason. Aside from the health risks, the one thing that you need to realize is that this is a highly addictive drug and to quit "cold turkey" is going to be like a scene from trainspotting.
You know the feeling where you're really hungry and you're waiting for a meal. Imagine that times 100, thats how you're gonna feel the day after you stop smoking.
It'd be different if you slowly wound yourself down, but to go from a pack a day for a month to NOTHING is gonna blow you're mind imo
Edit: you might seizure and die you'd have to google nicotine withdrawal I'm too lazy

no its not that hard....I smoked like half a pack a day for 2 mos and quit cold turkey a month ago. People that claim its too hard to quit are just pussys and want attention. do it and ship the 2500

Well do you like smoking? I mean, in all honesty I love smoking - the only reason I quit was because it was taboo. I quit cold turkey with no problems, granted I was only smoking about 10/day for 7 months.
Will you get cancer in 30 days from smoking? Not a chance.

pretty easy bet to take. I don't see how they could prove you smoking.
don't inhale, light a few in the house from time to time..smoke around your friend...
I don't see how he could make this bet with no way of proving anything

Re: Prop bet: Take up smoking a pack a day for 30 days, and QUIT
That's how I started smoking, with a bet from smokers, after I had been "bothering" them about how they should quit, to smoke a pack a day for 30 days and quit. I had to work up to it which took me about 6 weeks. I lost the bet. When I tried quitting all I could think about was smoking. I got headaches. One of the smokers said that if I smoked one more cigarette they wouldn't count it as a breach since they were curious about what would happen. Well, that "one" cigarette was soooo good I just paid them and joined the club, so to speak. I now smoke more than any of them, more than a pack each day.
I enjoy smoking so it was sort of worth it, but I hate the fact that I was wrong about how easy it is to quit. Even with the smoker's cough and all, I can't quit and now totally understand their dilemma. You'll understand it too if you try it. That bet was 10 years ago.

Re: Prop bet: Take up smoking a pack a day for 30 days, and QUIT
People who say that it might be dangerous to quit cold turkey after a month of smoking are hysteric.
i smoked for 15 years, 30 cigs a day and I quit cold turkey. Nothing happened except that I very soon started feeling a lot better.

easy win, you'll be glad as hell when the 30 days are up. It'll be way harder choking down a pack a day for your first week than it will be to quit after a month.

lol at anyone who thinks smoking for 30 days will increase your chance of getting lung cancer significantly. Maybe if you live in the middle of nowhere and aren't exposed to a million different carcinogens on a daily basis anyway

Re: Prop bet: Take up smoking a pack a day for 30 days, and QUIT
If you get addicted in those 30 days then yes, it will significantly increase your risk of dying. And I saw a talk a few months ago that said most of the people who get cancer get it from a single event 10-15 years before they actually are diagnosed, so maybe 30 days of smoking is plenty to get cancer 15 years down the road.

Re: Prop bet: Take up smoking a pack a day for 30 days, and QUIT
smoked for 4 years a pack a day for the last year quit cold turkey no problem... 2 years later still have the random craving but its not hard if you have will power. I did quit when my (ex) gf got preggo so maybe that had more to do with it tho
