I've wanted one of these ever since I heard of them about 18 months before the release of the game 'Spore' (the developers for that game printed out a lot of 3D models of their creatures, it got a lot of coverage.) Totally psyched to hear you can get one for less than $2k.

Watch the video. I don't know how much manipulation is needed once it's done scanning to let it know what the moving parts are inside, but, well, just watch it.

This follow-up video clarifies some things, and no, the scanner can't magically deduce internal structure. Any image that was scanned in would have to be edited on the computer to get the internal structure right.
