summary: teens berate elderly female bus monitor to the point of tears. community responds by collecting donations to send woman on vacation. tremendous response ensues and collection is nearing $200,000.

don't have a link to confirm, but supposedly 4chan has gotten ahold of the identities of the bullies and have been wrecking havoc. will try to confirm.

I'm embarrassed to say I live in Greece NY where this went down. These 4 kids are not a fair representation of our community and we are as outraged as the rest of the country/world. The school board and police have told us they intend to impose the maximum possible punishment.

is this like a huge story in your town right now? what's the backlash been against the kids and their families?

i read 12-13 somewhere. right about at the line where you would expect at least one of them to stand up for her. if they were 8-9 i'd say kids are dumb and 15-16 i'd probably kill one of them.

Wow sucks that it happened to her, but the response from the community is incredible! $300k going to her to show how much she is appreciated! That has to feel nice when you're 58 and making $15k/year. Go humanity!

Lead story on every local news report. Even broke into programming on network tv's for news conference with police & school board.

Kids and their family members have received multiple death threats from around the world via phone, text, email. Local police are patrolling around each of their homes to ensure their safety.

Bus monitor decided not to prosecute.....she wants the school board to handle the punishment. Even if she changes her mind and decides she wants to prosecute, they wouldn't get much due to their age (13). I'm not sure about all the details there, but that's what I understood from the police chief's press conference.

I don't know what the school board will do. What can they do? School is over this year. Maybe suspend them next year???

I won't be surprised if that total goes over $1M within a week. I think we can all stop feeling sorry for her at this point. She's a nice lady, she's handled the situation well and she can now do anything she wants in retirement as a result of all this.

I dont feel sorry for her, I feel sorry for those kids and the families and communities they come from and live in. Its amazing how spoiled they are. Its nice that everyone is offering so much money to this woman and insisting that these kids be reprimanded but the real effort has to be concentrated on fixing whatever broken system produced these kinds of kids.
