Right from the start of the game I manage to perform better than the 'glowing frame' scores on most levels.

Hm, yeah I missed that. I usually create 2 towers at most, and probably don't create anywhere near 25 gems, and I rarely throw gem bombs.

How do you increase your total score? Mine doesn't seem to go up at all. I'm 20k shy from lvl 19.

edit: How the hell did I get the amulets for "Thrown at least 15 gem bombs" and "Thrown at least 75 gem bombs" but not the one for "Thrown at least 30 gem bombs"???

Try throwing between 30 and 75 gem bombs.

FINALLY beat the epic boss. I was level 24. I ended up with one level 7 gem and three level 6s, and that was enough. Tips:

-Keep the gems as pure as possible. Don't go over 3 colors in a single gem.
-I had 3 towers at the top of the path and 3 at the bottom. I started the gems at the top and when the boss passed them I moved them to the bottom. Effectively doubled their firepower.

I'm assuming you have to level up by completing amulets for the first time? It seems my score doesn't increase if I keep repeating the same ones.

Your XP is calculated by adding up all your high scores from the levels you've completed. So if your high score on one level is 1.5 million and you play it again and get 1.2 million, you don't get any more XP, since your high score for that level is still 1.5 million. I had to go back and get the glowing frame score for the first 6 or 7 levels to get to the point where I could beat epic boss 1.

I can't get the glowing frame on some of the semi-early ones that require about 4m points, and I don't know why. I've leveled up a lot and gone back and yet I still keep scoring in the same range even when I start out with a bunch of high-grade gems and can pretty much just insta-send 10 waves at a time. At one point I thought I was close enough that I'd get it, and the next couple times through at the end I just made a crapload of gems and threw a bunch of bombs to get more amulets, yet my score ended up being 200k lower each time even though I was doing everything the same up until the very end where I should have been getting MORE points.

Early on for most of the regular levels you can just dig a bunch of trenches and send all waves except for the next set of speed runners/bosses and then spam level 1 gem bombs when they clump up. Try not to mix in many bosses, but you basically don't even need to put gems in the towers until epic type levels. Towards the end you can switch to level 2 bombs.

Interesting strategy.

I finally did manage to clear one of them where I essentially just kept sending the next wave repeatedly with never more than about a one second delay. It just seems pretty messed up that you have to be so close to perfect just to get the glowing frame on some levels while on others it's really easy.

meh, im lvl 89 right now and thats pretty much what i did on every level. spam send next inbetween clicking mana upgrade. you dont have to be perfect at all.. i usually clear the glowing score by at least a couple mil
