Re: Official Flash Game Thread
Yea, there's a few things you can do that make solving these puzzles a lot faster:
For a 15x15, any single number above an 8 can have black spaces filled in. For example, an if there's a row of "8", then you can fill in the middle square, as any row of 8 requires the middle square to be filled in. If there's a 9, you can fill in the middle 3 squares for the same reason. A 10? Middle 5 squares, and so on.
If you see a row like "7 1 2", what you can do is, counting from the right, set up something like this:
[ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][-][1][-][2][2]
If you assume the "1 2" section of this line is on the far right, there's only the left 10 squares to put the "7" in, thus you can treat them like a "7" row in a 10x10:
[ ][ ][ ][B][B][B][B][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ]
If the 1 2 part isn't on the far right, these squares STILL must be filled in.
...yea, I definitely wasted too much of my childhood on freaking Mario's Picross.

An easier way (and faster) is to put in your normal squares that must be filled in and then add squares to the opposite side that would equal the other numbers plus X's. For example, for 9 1 2 you would fill in the middle 3, and then 5 more on the left (1 + 2 + 1 + 1).

Re: Official Flash Game Thread
Yeah, I do all those tricks. My times for the last two 15x15s has been around 9:30-9:35. Granted I also get distracted by IMs and my 2 tables of 10/20 6-max.

Re: Official Flash Game Thread
This game has what I need in a game. Sound disabler and a leisurely pace without too much thought put into it. And yeah, there's a million bubble shooter games but I like this one.

Great game, AJ. What's your high score? I feel like I just had a pretty good run, but I have no idea what to shoot for, so to speak.
