Re: Insane standing jump

Are people in this thread really that clueless?

This is how you measure a vertical jump

Now look at the guys waist in that video. If he is say around 5'10" then his waist should be ~39" high. Now go forward and look how high his waist goes. It goes maybe 6" above the stack. 63"+6" = 69" - 39" = 30"

The world record for the vertical jump is 55". This is nowhere near that.

Re: Insane standing jump

don't freak man, there are 3 people in this thread other than yourself and only one person has implied its a world record of some kind.

It might be the world record in stabilized jump height (?).

I'd rather see the fail reel than this.

some people are taller than others. some people's arms are longer than others. you're measuring vertical reach.

Re: Insane standing jump

Well, that page is pretty clear on what record we're talking about

Quote:
The highest standing jump onto a platform was 1.48 m (4 ft 10.27 in) by Jonas Huusom (Denmark) at Gerlev Sports Academy in Slagelse, Denmark, on 27 August 2011.

From a still, standing position, Huusom leaped to the top of 37 firm judo mats stacked one upon the other.
This guy handily beat the previous 58.27" record. It's pretty ****ing impressive regardless

hmm now i'm not sure. but the point i was trying to make is that i dont think jumping abitlity has anything to do with how high you can touch that mechanism. a 5ft guy that can elevate 2ft off the ground is still gonna touch that thing lower than a 7ft guy that can elevate 1 inch. which is the better jump?

Re: Insane standing jump

not trolling, it's an argument of semantics and perhaps i gave a retarded example, but to me the best jump has nothing to do with how high ur arms can reach.
