Film permit from the city & police dept, + cash to PD for traffic control. Pretty common. Shoot on Sunday early am. Although some of the shadows looked like high noon.
sweet vid but bittersweet for me: The hill he jumps at 3:45 is on Russian Hill at Taylor and Vallejo; three years ago my truck was parked a block down from there when drunk a-holes catching the same air lost control of their suv at 2am and took out fourteen cars parked on the west side of Taylor. My truck was pulverized; their suv ended up on its side in the middle of the next intersection.
The driver and passenger walked away unhurt. They made up some bs story about meeting a third person that night who drove their car for them, wrecked it, and then kicked out the back window and fled the scene, never to be heard from again. I was told they eventually fessed up; dunno if they had legal issues later but obv everyone's insurance paid out.
Brag: I found out about the accident the next morning when a buddy sent me a link of the morning news, which opened and closed with a shot of my truck getting towed.
Beat: SF tried to charge me $500 for the tow! (It didn't stick.)
Variance: the drunk a-holes were two girls! The (mercedes) suv was a husband's. I actually missed them by five minutes the next week at Hunter's Point when I had to get the car towed back to the city, the word was that they were walking around giggling at everything.
