I still fire it up sometimes but every attempt ends in failure.

I had to use the rubber band trick to get past the intro. The rest of TtFaF isn't all that hard, it's just that I could never get comfortable with any of the non-accessory-based techniques for beating the intro

wow now that you mention it i did too. i totally forgot about that

i actually got fairly competent at tapping at one point but the first time i beat TtFaF was with a rubber band. i did get to the point where i could beat it without it though.

i recently played GH at one of those arcade machines at dave and busters and got my ass kicked by some solo in a mid tier song. it was a humbling experience.

I remember reading that far less than 1% of players had completed the Mile High Club challenge for the veteran hostage rescue. Similarly, my white whale was completing this page on MW2. 1,000 attack helicopter kills took an unreal amount of time but I just had to get it done.

I was practically raised on Diablo 2 LOD. And for ~2 years I lived on SC2 only.

Beating Milon's Secret Castle (NES). Still own the NES that my brother bought almost 30 years ago, but had never played MSC until i was in my 20's.

Games is super hard bc there is no 3 seconds of invincibility when getting hit. Can be real frustrating getting hit repeatedly bt enemies and not being able to do a damn thing.

So many, but they were all on the ZX Spectrum, games were so so so much harder back in the 80s.

This post made me think "Holy ****, I'm old..."

I was a teenager when the original Diablo came out, and graduated high school before the release of Diablo II. :P I was in college before LOD came out.

I never had much interest in the Resident Evil series until Resident Evil 4 came out and started being lauded as one of the best games ever. I realized I would have to play it, but that I also needed to play 1-3 first (that's how I roll). So I began on a long journey, playing the REmake of part 1 for GameCube, then RE2 for N64 (a decent port) and RE3 for PS1. I could have been done with it at that point, but I needed to go further.

So even though they're not numbered entries in the strictest sense, I played Code Veronica (PS2 port) and RE0 (Cube).

I still had something nagging at me before I could play RE4 though. The REmake was awesome, but it wasn't a strict 1:1 remake. It had quite a lot of differences from the original RE1, and even purposely subverts your expectations if you'd already played the original (for example, the expected "jump scares" happen at different times to throw you for a loop). So really, to get the full RE experience before RE4 I knew I had to go back and play the original RE1. I bought it as a PS1 Classic for PS3 a few years ago and finished it.

This story began in approximately January of 2005 with REmake, and my goal of completing all of the RE4 prerequisites has now been satisfied.

But I still haven't played Resident Evil 4.

I enjoyed this. Interestingly the ONLY Resident Evil game I have ever played was 4, and it is fantastic.

The original Resident Evil was the first game to ever actually give me a jump scare.

Omfg go get RE4 pronto. Wii version is the best if you have a Wii. This game is a gem and has tons of content and replay value. Amazing game.

Ya I was born in 88 so I didn't catch on until LOD came out. (My PC gaming started with like Doom 2/Duke Nukem/etc) I remember I heard some kids talking about it and I looked into it. This was of course around the time that I was able to get high speed internet for the first time.

I'm not kidding I played LOD for like 10 years and even as recently as like 2 years ago I was into it.

Last couple weeks I've been playing all the blizz games: ros, sc2, hearthsone and hots. Good stuff.

+1 to playing RE4, easily the best in the series for me. Wii version is good but I'd just pick up the HD version on 360, PS3 or PC.

Dominion Online ainec. Had, I think it was 8th or 9th highest Elo on Goko at one point, didn't even like the game at all anymore. Could have been higher if I had actually paid for the expansions I guess. Now I just stay away from any game that has real competitive potential. Actually though, maybe the original Colonization comes close in terms of time spent.

Not playing anything at all these days really, but particularly staying away from Hearthstone, game looks like crack.

Edit: Super Ghouls & Ghosts for the SNES, 2 years as a kid trying to beat the game, ostensibly I do, only be told by the slut princess that I have to beat the whole game again to find some ****ing key or something.

Some good answers on here. Every blizzard game for me basically up to starcraft 2/diablo iii. Although I've always been fairly good at those games, they weren't very difficult so I'm not sure they meet the criteria.

There are a few memorable ones from childhood for me:
-Beating every mission of perfect dark on perfect agent stands out. God that was so difficult but so much fun.
-Collecting all 150 pokemon in the original version. Definitely inflated my 4th grade ego.
-Perfecting Zelda:Ocarina of time. All heart containers, secrets, etc. **** yeah.
-Nothing specific but Civilization series (and especially civ 2) in general. So many epic moments/games that you manage to win after 1000's of hours and reloads (yes I reload )

Currently it's gotta be hitting legend in hearthstone. Soon...

Mine was definitely Pangya (a fantasy online golf mmo) that I played in the mid 2000s. It was heavily based on problem solving to determine the variables of each shot and then calculate an answer.

The cool thing about it is even with millions of people playing the korean and japanese versions no one ever figured out the perfect formulas to guarantee you got a chipin.

It basically resulted in months/years of note taking and spreadsheets to figure out a series of constants that worked for certain situations. There was also a skill element that required timing and being able to read certain things about your shot.
