I'm wondering if this xbox won't be surprisingly cheap - is there anything actually expensive hardware-wise in what we've seen? suppose we don't know much about it's GPU yet.

You'll probably be able to resell and trade games, but you probably need to de-register your copy from your profile, and buy a new registration number for the new player's file, which will surely cost like $9.99 or $20.00.

Am I interpreting correctly that the XBOXO *must* be connected to the internet to work?

And it also has an HD camera and microphone which is always on, looking at you, ready to "listen" for your commands?

Pretty lols. I'm glad these consoles are getting so troll. It will push more of the real gamers back to 3rd-5th generation consoles.

I might line up to buy an XBOXO for resale on opening day, but it seems like PS4 will be the better choice for that.

The only upside is that XBOXO closely resembles XOXO, which is cute.

What exactly makes the ps4 intrinsically "for gamers?" (Aside from their slogan, ldo) Like, didn't the GC try that whole "leave out options that are now standard and claim superiority" bit a long time ago? What specifically in the ps4 is for gamers that isn't in the XBOXOXOXO?

There are some (small) hardware differences but googling I don't see any of them explained yet.

The ps3 was hampered at the start by being really hard to make games for because of the Cell technology. With the PS4 they've took that criticism on board and basically made it as close to a pc as possible and much easier for developers to make games for it. They are also making PSN a lot more open platform for indie developers and they have all their studios working on PS4 exclusives. So basically they are focusing everything on it being a great gaming machine first and foremost with a lot of great games, or thats the hope.

No one knows which will have better games. If Xbox 1 takes off and PS4 doesn't, guess where the exclusives go? (And vice versa, obviously).

I use my xbox mostly for apps. Was hoping I would learn more about it w/ respect to media consumption. I don't need .mkv so 500GB will be fine, plus I usually just stream off my PC to my 360. No way my little bro would let me mess up his gamerscore! When I play Halo or BF its ugly.

This pretty much sums it up

The vast majority of people just want a box to play games on, we don't need more social media integration and XBOX is never going to be our home entertainment all in one hub, not sure what sort of crack their smoking.

People buy XBOX to play games on, the rest is just frills but they are treating it like the main course.

Trying new things isn't a bad thing necessarily. People may never want to be without some of those things again.

I'm all for them including non-gaming functions on it, but they are forgetting that those are auxillary functions. It's still primarily a gaming console, that's why people are gonna buy it and that's where that vast majority of it's use will come from.

Instead they treat gaming like an "oh it can also do games"

I can understand their DESIRE for wanting the Xbox to be the essential OMG I need it to do everything machine they dream of, but that just isn't going to happen.

For every one person using all that stuff there's gonna be another 1,000 just using it to play games.

"Xbox is about to become the next watercooler."

Seriously? Give me a break.

Yeah, until they try the new features and realize they're cool.

I wouldn't mind not having to find that always hiding, elusive remote for my tv

Just think about it like this, if they removed gaming functionality and left everything else, who would buy it? Nobody.

If they left only gaming functionality and took everything else out, who would buy it? Almost everybody who was going to anyway.
