About 80% of this so far has had nothing to do with the actual Xbox lol.

Compared to the PS4, Microsoft is being a lot more ambitious with the Xbox One. The PS4 plays games, the Xbox One does that and everything else too. Clearly they are going after two separate, but still somewhat overlapping demographics. It'll be interesting to see which of the two strategies succeeds.

In terms of games, there was nothing shown that was all that interesting. Though I can't seem to recall anything that great shown at the PS4 reveal either. Graphically, virtually everything shown was a disappointment. It looks like really nice current gen stuff. I'm personally still a bit skeptical on the games front, but honestly the most intriguing aspect of the whole reveal is which of the two divergent strategies will succeed, the PS4's focus on games and games only, or the Xbox1's attempt at being an all-in-one device?

the actual system itself looks like an old vcr or something...especially laying down on it's side. A bit clunky imo.

These people have a very different idea of 'gameplay footage' to me

I personally was expecting some footage, from someone playing the game.

I feel like this post is sarcasm but that's actually a pretty cool feature.

Oh HELL no. The chances of MS + game publishers risking something going wrong the first time they show a new console to the world like this is zero.

so now xbox wants to do its own original programming and tie it into a game? that is a different spin from which netflix and amazon are doing.

Not necessarily live footage of someone playing the game, just in-game footage so we could see how the games actually look..

the cinematic's they showed us tell me nothing.. they are easy (relative) to make look all nice and shiny...

Oh, I see. I'm sure those are still rendered in-game so it's still at least showing you what the game/console are capable of graphics-wise. I think they had some guns firing and stuff in there too somewhere (I remember seeing a red dot sight which would presumably come from a FP view).

It's probably because the game is nowhere near actual gameplay right now because its still in development. they just whip up a cool cinematic video that has little to do with the gameplay.

I was hoping for a launch date more accurate than "later this year", but we can maybe expect mid November due to CoD:Ghosts?

Wow, microsoft tells wired that all games are automatically installed upon initial insertion of game, and disc insertion is not required after that. They say that to use the disc ondl a different console, a fee will be required, though it does not say how much

Link?

And assuming this is true, I actually approve. Even though I know I will be in the extreme minority.

The game will be in stores in 5.5 months. They definitely could have shown gameplay at this point.
