Ridiculous no? Kills my method of beating a game and e-baying my copy for 60-80% of my purchase price. It was better than only getting 5-15% from GameStop/other stores.

it seems to me like gamestop stands to lose a ton of profit from this. i wonder if they might consider making some sort of deal with microsoft to give them/devs X% of used game sales to get them to not do this.

Assume you would rather buy a next-gen Xbox over the next-gen PlayStation. Xbox features this Used Game ban and PlayStation does not.

At what price do the new games for Xbox have to debut where you would still buy an Xbox?

maybe $25, i use gamefly for most games (i'm assuming i couldn't use gamefly with this ban?) and only buy ones that have long term replayability (so basically sports games) or that i've been a long time fan of and have to have on release day

The money that goes to secondary market currently keeps games at an artificially higher price (even though you guys think the prices are somehow outrageous when they haven't increased in two decades).

Look at Steam and what happens to prices when the developer can take in the majority of the cost and cut out the middle-men. There's lifetimes worth of content available for a few bucks!

I always buy games new and never sell them, but it'd prob still have to be $40-$45 for me to not buy the PS4 out of spite.

imo it's not worth making a huge deal out of this yet until we know it's for sure. Lots of rumors fly around prior to new consoles coming out, and MS is probably at least considering it if they haven't issued any kind of denial yet, but it's def not a certainty.

I don't mind this at all. I never buy used games and hate paying extra cause of cheap skates buying/selling used games. I hope it'll be all digital downloads from a Steam-like service.
