Thank you for all the feedback. We got another 10 pulls in last night, but only made it to the third Quillen once (
Druid pron - don't click if you're a fan of Priests, seriously). We've talked Santhera into switching to Disc starting Wednesday so we'll see how that goes. With some well-timed shields I think we'll have at least half the group regularly survive the first round of tornadoes. That ought to extend our average pull past 5 minutes which is a victory of sorts, right? We've got 1 or 2 people that die to Tornadoes every single time. What do you even do about that? Without naming names, it's the same person that was snatching up all the battle rezzes on Horridon. We're also having problems with keeping people up when the stacking flame debuffs come out. Our other Holy Priest is having a hard time topping people off between stacks and it's leading to some deaths that really shouldn't be happening. Nofear pointed out that's he's basically spamming Greater Heal in the wrong Chakra which is probably what's going on there. One out of every 3 attempts we have someone dead 1 minute in to the fight and they're almost always in the group with that healer. We have the Druid stacked in the middle with the Tanks and Rogue, and split the 2 Holy Priests between the 2 ranged groups. My hope is that if we can limit ourselves to 1 Holy Priest, we can give him more of a specific role and desired healing style, rather than just assume that they're going to work it out between themeselves. Kind of a "too many cooks in the kitchen" type of thing.
Hopefully Santhera switching to Disc will give us some better progress on Qon and we can be working on Twins next weekend. Depending on when 5.4 drops, we might have a shot at Lei Shen (or at least getting some work on him). But the patch has been predicted as early as the 27th which is next Tuesday.
Remember this from about 6 weeks ago?

We're at 9/12 now so we can consider that "most of ToT." Ahead of the Curve: Lei Shen doesn't seem like it's within reach at this point with the patch sounding like it's around the corner. That's disappointing because the personal goal I set for myself/this raid group was to kill at least Heroic Jin'rokh before 5.4. So how did we get here?
Well, it took about 2 months for us to lose the Hunter that didn't even have enough pets to fill out a Stampede. The next week we finally killed Horridon, so we have to kind of look at our progress and say that we had more than a 2 month handicap on Throne of Thunder. Since then we've made decent progress, killing about 0.5 to 1 new bosses per lockout. The 2 months that we spent on Horridon allowed some of our raiders to inflate their gear a little bit to where we've now got 4 of the 600 ilvl cloaks in the raid (4 of our DPS). I think our DPS is probably our raid's strongest attribute right now, and I think it's somewhat been able to carry us as far as we've gotten. Unfortunately, our Druid Healer and his wife the Paladin Tank don't care about or do LFR, and they're still stuck on the Sigils stage of the Legendary questline. Our DK tank is on Secrets of the Empire and should have the cloak in a couple of weeks. His wife is the better of the 2 Holy Priests, and is still a couple months out on the cloak. That gives some insight to the motivation of our raiders and maybe why we are where we are.
Come 5.4 there's been some debate as to what's going to happen. A lot of our raid doesn't want to just go Flex. It's lower ilvl, not the prestige of normal mode, and to be honest there's more than a couple of us that know how much we're under-achieving right now. Settling for Flex-mode would be just that, settling and really taking ownership of what we couldn't accomplish. Our sister guild is in a similar situation. I don't think they've killed Animus though. I think that what a lot of us are secretly hoping is that we take the best parts from each 10 man and put together a raid that would be more than capable of clearing a couple Heroics, while the rest end up in a flex raid that's sort of an open-invitation fun run on the weekends.

I server/faction transferred back at the beginning of Mists to run with the guild I started playing the game with. They were a solid group back then and I figured there was a bright future of progression with them. That raid didn't last 3 weeks before like 8 of them quit the game. At the end of Wrath I had run with my current guild a bit, and I saw that they had a handful of Heroic kills in Dragon Soul so I figured I'd see if I could join up with them. I whispered the GM and was able to jump right in. I joined up in Jan. and they were working on Spirit Kings. We killed Will of the Emperor in due time and hit some speedbumps in Heart of Fear. We killed Empress 1 week post 5.2, and cleared TES shortly thereafter. Once we hit the Horridon wall is when I decided that I might need to find a new group. I was hoping that we'd build up a solid group in a ground-up fashion and that we could really push forward to get further into the content. It's happened slower than I'd like and now I'm looking at potentially going an entire expansion without killing an end-boss while it's current if things keep going like they are. I think my ceiling is much higher than that.
I brought in one of my IRL friends to the raid so we manage to have a decent time even when things aren't looking good progression-wise. I guess the real answer is I don't know why I haven't jumped ship yet. I don't want to go to another server seeing as I've already spent way too much money hopping all over the place. I kind of hold a grudge against Blizzard that I've spent hundreds of dollars moving toons around just to end up on a pretty dead server progression-wise. I think Hellscream was #52 on WoW-progress when I transferred, now they're down to #126. There are never any pugs in Trade, and only a couple of guilds that I could apply to that would be any kind of significant jump from where we are now.
Sorry for the long post.
TL;DR: I'm feeling pretty down about WoW in general right now. 5.4 is looming and I'm sitting at 9/12.
