I defy anyone to successfully play Super Mario World using the GC controller. It's nigh impossible. Also, the D-pad is terrible.
|
It took a bit of getting used to, but once I got the hang of it it worked just fine. It's still a little uncomfortable, but I'm not sure I want to shell out 20 bucks for the VC controller.
|
Conversely, I'm trying to play Ocarina of Time right now on the Classic Controller, and it's a pain in the ass because I can't tell where the buttons have been mapped to. The game gives me instructions on how to do different things, like "press the yellow directional arrow button here", but there are no buttons like that on the controller of course.
Looks like I'll be looking into the Wavebird I think.
I'm not THAT impressed with the game so far, I don't know if it's aged well. I'll have to give it some more time though.

* Donkey Kong™ Country (Super NES®, 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points)
* The Legend of Kage (NES®, 1-2 players, 500 Wii Points)
* New Adventure Island (TurboGrafx16, 1 player, 600 Wii Points)
* Streets of Rage™ (Sega Genesis, 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points)
Wow, I hate you sega for releasing Streets of Rage. Though I suppose it makes sense that they want people to buy the inferior original before they release Streets of Rage 2 at some later date.
|
is streets of rage 1 still worth buying? it looks pretty cool

Only if you have a friend to play it with and you like side scrolling beat-em-ups.

Re: Wii Virtual Console updates
What I would really like to know is if the OoT VC release is the original version or the one that Nintendo later 'updated' for the gamecube, changing some of the music and the blood to green in the final Ganon battle.

Elevator Action - NES
Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts - SNES
Sword of Vermillion - Genesis
I'm disappointed...Is Vermillion any good?

Re: Wii Virtual Console updates
That is a putrid lineup. I never played Super GnG though. Is it as insanely difficult as its predecessors?
I don't recall much about Vermillion's game play, but I remember being very disappointed in it. I'm pretty sure that Vermillion and Phantasy Star III were equally responsible for turning me against RPGs for the last 15 years.

Re: Wii Virtual Console updates
Yes, Super GnG is just as insanely difficult as its predecessors, even on beginner mode. As for sword of Vermillion, I say no to any RPG where you have to open up a menu to talk to people.

You have to do that in the Dragon Warriors too though.
Is that the Genesis game? I think it's on my Sega Genesis Collection.

OK, I've figured out the controls now. Works fine with the classic controller. Much like TP, sometimes I get a little confused during a battle, but I'll get better at it. Pretty fun game, although I'm surprised just how much you're left to figure stuff out on your own, whereas TP you really have to follow certain steps, or at least it's clear what you have to do next before moving on in the game.
Trying to see how far I can get without gamefaq help right now.

pretty weak releaee. I remember S GNG being a good but very tough game. I'm just not into these old games that require a ton of memorization to be good at.

Re: Wii Virtual Console updates
yeah, I probably have played over 70% of all NES games at one point or another but have never heard of it. Couldn't have been that popular, but makes me wonder why it was released this early, unless it was a game that was out towards the end of it's existance.

Re: Wii Virtual Console updates
It was a pretty popular arcade game in the early 80s that was ported to the NES, as was everything at the time.
