Most underrated n64 titles in no order:

1. All-star baseball (2k1?) featuring Derek Jeter - overshadowed by the single greatest sports game OAT (hi, this is ken griffey jr. let's play major league baseball!), ASB had some cool stuff like being able to tilt the batting-square in the direction you wanted to place the ball, and sliding!

2. International Superstar Soccer '98 - perhaps the first and last soccer game where goalies regularly got demolished during punts and free kicks. The ability to unlock an indoor arena and Fifa's already been given a run for their $$.

3. San Francisco Rush 2049: The greatest racing game of the 64-bit era, SF puts games like GT and CRUISIN EXOTICA! to shame with futuristic battle modes and a trick system nearly on-par with Tony Hawk Pro Skater games.

4. Turok - This game was batsht insane and I remember going to parallel universi to complete missions. I think you also may have gotten to use archaic weapons like harpoons. Yeah, sometimes using a Farsight to pick-off your friends (Perfect Dark) is necessary, but a long lineage of hunters in reality made the kills in this game extra rewarding. I was always hungry after turning this game off, and can attribute growing up to be big and strong partially to this game.

5. Tetrisphere - Nuclear warheads + puzzleballs + impending doom = the nuts.

6. Iggy's reckin' balls - this game was straight up fun. I rented it for weeks on end from Blockbuster and easily spent > $50. TELEPORT ME TO THE TOP OF THE LEVEL PLEASE.

7. Extreme-G - Effectively Uniracers in the third dimension. Exquisitely splendid.

8. Mystical Ninja staring Goemon - Never played it, never needed to. Spent an entire sleepover watching the host grind this game into oblivion. You basically explored a civilization much like the Japanese village featured in Karate Kid: II (another underrated beacon of art) and was a catalyst for games like SHENMUE and the movie HERO featuring Jet Li and a side-credit for Quentin Tarantino directing a single scene at most. I came for the Tarantino - I left with the courage of GOEMON. Spoiler alert: one of the last scenes had thousands of blades launched at the city, and you guessed it, Jet Li didn't give many fukcs.

9. Bomberman 64 - Featuring the best soundtrack on the console, who could forget the diverse landscape of each world. Crossing fiery bridges, giant robot birds, SNOW LAND, and some alternate reality puzzles put B64 #2 behind the Zelda franchise for games that forgot to include a jump button. Bomberman HERO was flashier and more fluid, but lacked the chutzpah of its original. Epic battle mode too with cheat codes, disco trance, and of course APOCALYPTIC FIREBALLS DROPPED FROM THE SKY. This game was the most effective use of the d-pad in gaming history, as you could only move in four directions. CHAYA!

10. NHL Breakaway '98 - Brought back the glow-puck and streamed shots in psychedelic glory.

11. Star Wars: Shadows of the empire: came out early in the console's life and was basically a predesessor (or sequel) to the Jedi Night series. Level 1 had you tying up giant elephant-looking robots by the feet and leveling them to the ground. The rest of the game was an adventure into the future and the narrowest cliffs in the history of gaming. Sadly, this game was replaced by the rogue squadron series (mediocre-at-best ripoff of starfox) and is basically unplayable now due to choppiness and anxiety-caused from falling over the edge. Also - killing Boba Fett was a feat to be had.

12. Mischief Makers - I still play this game every once in a while. A very difficult sidescrolling platformer featuring soulless clown-faced villains known as clancers; if you sucked at reading like me you were rewarded with infinite enlightenment if you also thought you had defeated Cancer.

13. Blades of Steel 64: I didn't know this game existed before making this post. The original was amazing and featured hero music and VILLAIN music during opposition celebration. It's the Pass! It's the pass! AHHHHHH! (galaga mini-game), is all you need to know about the original, so It's safe to assume this game was great. Also one of the only hockey games where controlling the goalie didn't end up making a butterfly save five feet of the goal. LOL current NHL games.

14. Rampage world tour - A game without the ability to save? Who cares! I stayed up for two days gobbling up pixelated-babes and leveling Asia.

15. Jeopardy! - Back when Alex Trebek donned a 70's porno stache, this game was both fun and educational.

I would love to get a Wii U because I love the Nintendo first-party stuff, but there's none of that to speak of at this point either. Xbox has given you a chance, Nintendo, DONT ****ING BLOW IT

My uncle at the time bought me and my brother (and himself too kinda) the N64 literally right when it came out, I think he snagged one from Toys R Us somehow. The two game he bought were Super Mario World 64 and this, SW:SOTE. As a kid, SOTE was a really scary and difficult game. The first level was the aforementioned Republic fighter mission where you're harpooning those big robot machines. I think level 2 or 3 was an asteroid shooting mission against empire fighters. And then yes, there were several levels including the Boba Fett one which were quite difficult and pretty nerve racking. Just getting to Boba Fett on the train/tram, and then you had to navigate around this junkyard area to get him. The game in general was just very challenging and stands out in my memory.

edit: damn, reading the wikipedia page now. DASH RENDAR! The Wampas caused me nightmares too. The junkyard fight I'm thinking of is IG-88.

There is just as much discussion of older nintendo consoles as the Wii U in this thread. What does that say?

I think this might be the best/only 3rd party Wii U game to have been shown so far. Ha. I know it was named an exclusive from the beginning... but so was Ray-Man... we saw how that turned out...

Bayonetta 2 is published by Nintendo. Sega passed on it so Nintendo picked it up.

Just got a Wii U to replace the broken Wii mainly for my kids. Any recommendations on a good title for myself? I just got Mario and Nintendoland so far. I enjoy RPGs, Resident Evil, Zelda SS on Wiil. Would like to pick up one more title for myself and that along with Mario with my sons will last me months as I'm not a huge gamer.

Sad to say, but no one really has any games. Maybe if Nintendo would release some. I bought my system the day it came out. Only have Mario and Madden. Lego City looks good though.

Sega passed on Bayonetta 2 so Nintendo picked it up. Nintendo is publishing and financing it. Sega really have nothing to do with the game apart from letting Nintendo use the IP.

Yes, it was awesome/scary and having a pointer to aim was great. I loved being able to execute head shots.

All, the lego games are just okay for me but the kids seem to enjoy them so thanks for the feedback.

You'd probably like ZombiU.

The Wonderful 101 and Pikmin 3 are coming out soon; kids will probably like those. New Mario 3D World around Holiday time.
